Why have Movies and TV Shows just started not working for me? Version 1.5.2.3557 or sooner..

Plex Media Server - Version 1.5.2.3557

I have had my Plex Media Server for a while now (since August 2015) I have had to do uninstalls for servers not starting and other bugs along the way. But to date I have yet to have this problem, until now.

The other day a few of my Movies and TV Shows were not playing. They just keep loading and all I see on Plex is that its buffering. This really sucks because there is now no way for me to fix this without reinstalling I feel like. I have a wide user base that has taken time to build a history with and I would hate for them to lose their watched history and other information because of a bug that might have slipped in between a Media Server Upgrade.

Also, I just recommended Plex to a co-worker where I work and he has been using for the past week or so with great success. I feel like this is a horrible timing :frowning:

I always talk so much good and spread the good word of Plex. Please Plex Team, Look out for me in my time of need!

P.S.
You dont know how much you depend on something until its gone…

I have attached my Logs. If you need anything else please let me know.

The log from 3/30/2017 has the logs for after I did a repair installation on Plex Media Server.

The other from 3/28/2017 has the logs for before I attempted the repair, so the wounds are fresh. I didn’t know if that would make a difference or not to attach both.

Try the current public release and see if the problem is still there. 1.4.4.3495 is the current public release available from plex.tv/downloads, just make sure to toggle off the the Plex Pass Downloads option before you hit the download button . This solved similar issues that I was experiencing…

Thank you for your help!

One Question, Can I downgrade without losing anything?

Can you tell me what do you have on network shares ? You need to move the transcoder directory to a local drive.
Is the rest of the app data for Plex Media Server local or on network drive / share?
Only the media files can be on network share/drive

Thank you for your response as well!

I am copying the files now and when it is done I will change the transcode directory and the appdata directory.

I had been using it this way for months, around 3 months to be exact. It seemed on the outside to not have anything wrong. But as time goes on, I guess the corruption slowly increased and made the server start acting goofy.

When I get everything squared away, I will post back and let you know the results.

I turned on Debugging for a little bit. And have attached results.

Logging is fine now
But the locations are still to be changed

After moving my directories the problems have resolved themselves! Thank you so much for your help @sa2000!

I appreciate the quick response and how accurately the problem was diagnosed!

Keep up the great work Plex Team!
