Why have you people ruined Plex?

That is so incredibly idiotic. I can’t believe they actually did something like this. I guess they never heard of one platform for all your media.

The previous app worked perfectly. There was nothing to “fix”.

The only fix to “fix” in Plex is support for pdf and epub so we can finally also put our books and have a complete multimedia library. But no we’re probably going to have a different app for movies and one for two shows with “recommended” bs to the front instead of browsing our own curated content to the fore. They can get rid of their “recommended” garbage any day.

He literally posted you the guide to downgrade on iOS.

On Android you need no guide, you can just download the old version and sideload it.

You’re right i didn’t mean to disrespect the instructions. I saw them later but also not sure i could follow them. Mostly i worry about how long plex will allow you to access with the old app esp since they forced me to upgrade my server too.

I still cannot fathom they would think it’s a brilliant idea to strip a multimedia app from half the media and take away all the music from the video content. I have libraries intertwined with music video content and documentaries. And opera videos. Now we’re being forced to have audio and video in different places?? Are they going to come back to their senses and backtrack this stupidity?

I use the plexamp to synchronize my music playlists to my iphone since Apple destroyed iTunes. But otherwise the simple fact that you have to ‘choose’ a library to browse your music is a giant flaw in Plexamp and makes it unusable otherwise.
So now they ruined the regular plex app and force us to use an app for music that is full of garbage suggestions and recommendations and doesn’t even have general browsing. Who comes up with these ridiculous ideas??!

The problem is y’all have taken away so many features silently. There’s no gesture control of volume/brightness on the player in android/ios and no volume boost still present for the clients.

These were features in the external player for Android but you have taken away from us.

@mans

They’ve not taken away features.

Where they’re at is:

  1. Audio, video, and photos have been separated into distinct apps

  2. Control app coming.

  3. The state of the apps at this point is NOT complete.
    – They decided to get them to a certain level and release at that point.
    – Could / should they have gotten more implemented before release VERY LIKELY.
    – I was not privy to those discussions and decisions. (I am part time)

  4. There will be more functionality coming. From what I understand, there will minimally be as much as what previously existed.

In a nutshell, we’re seeing the “First release” of the apps KNOWING they will be finished.

The point is this garbage should not have been released until it was at least at feature parity with what it replaced. It’s like no one at Plex understands / cares about that.

Which distinct app will house the beloved Watch Together feature?

You are not specifically talking about the features I mentioned in my previous comments because those features have been removed and you’re just typing some filler replies.
If you are truly someone true to your word, can you speak of the features whether they’ll be coming in a future releases?

The main problem here is not the apps, but No Plex employee is assuring it’s fans through the years that the not yet released features will come back.

I have specifically spoken about Android mobile in my previous comment and it’s missing features, why can’t you promise it’s on the roadmap if it’s truly coming?

CRAP. I missed that.

I apologize.

Watch Together is gone / going away.

Why it still exists in the support documentation but is stated as being removed is how I missed it

I am not talking about watch together. Please read messages before replying.

RESET:

ok, wow. total Brainfart misread

I’m not on the dev team. I don’t know if those have been removed

OR

NOT YET IMPLEMENTED

I’m sorry, I do my best to get everything right. This time I messed up

So please try to understand features have been removed. And Plex employees are not giving and kind of reassurance about features coming back

I am trying. I know communications isn’t always forthcoming from Engineering.
I try to fill in the gaps.

Right now, there are only a few of us to ‘hold down the fort’ while everyone else is out of town (literally).

Today was “one of those days”. The harder I tried, the worse it got (obviously)

Going to call it a day

Glad you can get away comments like that… :face_with_peeking_eye:

It’s not possible to set audio and subtle tracks before you start playback anymore, because those controls have been removed from the preplay screen for shallow aesthetic reasons.

This is one of my biggest issues with Jellyfin’s Android TV app. No way to select the audio/subs first → Start playback → Server fans spin up trying to transcode format you don’t even want → try to change settings now that you can → client now hanging as it tries to shift gears mid-playback.
