thatās the magic bit.
You FIRST obtain the raw streams in an MKV file with MakeMKV (as the name suggests).
You then see what you have in the file, use what you need when you drop them on Handbrake, create a āQueueā of, what could be thousands, to runā¦ and runā¦ and runā¦ andā¦ you get the idea.
I have a dozen running now.
Try it - youāll like it.

as i know i asked before other groups
handbrake cant fix my avis moi files it makes them smaller but i liked handbrake as its was automatic
then god told another it doesnt do batchā¦ then was told avidemux it can do batch but u gotta write a scriptā¦ and i just trying this mvktoolnix and it seems it takes 5 files and shoves it into 1 file lol 1 video and takes the audio from the 5 files and all into one
is there a script then i could use as i know i have more then 100 avis i dont wanna sit there loading 1 file at a time i
or do you know how to make handbrake change the container from avi to mkv as i only been told it just re encodes so was told you loose qualityā¦ but i was hoping one of these automaiticlly did it and keep the same subdirectories tooā¦

so looking at the makemkv siteā¦ is like dvd decrypterā¦ rips the dvd to the hard drive
and then you save which files to keep rename itā¦ right so if it rips to mkv you dont need handbrake?

i just wannna say then mkvtoolnix point to \movies or
point to \old movies\ (all my movies) (input)
point to \movies\ (all movies converted to mkv) (output)
and it fixs all movies avi mp4 moi and dumps it to the mkvā¦
as i tried to ask for help in avidemux but i never got helpā¦ .as i was told to use that with a script well doesnt help me when i dont understand it lol

Do a few and see if they work.
When/if you need to do large batches (like the 1300 I just did) you stack 'em on
- Drag and Drop - in groups you can manage (until you get 5-10 tabs or so) then you seek out the Action For All Tabs Button:
Note: that will command a large portion of your driveās usefullness - particularly the one all this is happening on. Small batches recommeneded.

what i did was i clicked the bottom Add Sources i added 5 files
then i click the button beside is Start multiplexing
and destination file said the 1 fileā¦ and it took the 5 video audio files and stuck it into the first fileā¦
Just drag and drop a few on the GUI - anywhere - itāll add tabs and you can do the tab trick.
just do one first and test it.

when i install MKVtoolNix
it only installs version 8.7.0 but you have a newer version and it tells me newest version is 46.0.0 im as download to get latest verion for unraid doesnt go past 8.7.0
juicy i have a question
so i had to get a windows versionā¦ since its not supported on unraid reason its only version 8 not 46ā¦ so i been fiddling with itā¦ all i set was keep in the same directory as it didnt work to make another folder and keep the same as the directlyā¦
but couple questionsā¦ as i converting all my mp4 divx avi flv to mkv
so the āfailedā means it cant read the audio and cant do the file right?
and the āwarningā mean it tried it finds garbage in it for the audio but the audio seems to be ok still
and you said you can load 1300
i try to load up more then 400 avis and the software i guess is trying but crashesā¦ how do you manage to load up 1300 without it crashing as i have alot of AVIs id like to upgrade to mkv
I did 10 at a time - not 1300.
(it took 2 Weeks - Not 15 Minutesā¦lol)
Some AVIs canāt simply be remuxed to cure them.
Some AVIs must be re-encoded for the cure.
Another reason to hate AVIs.

i didnt know avis were badā¦ well back 20 yrs ago all i had was avi and moi and divx coming out so i always stuck with that using gordenknot to encode my dvdsā¦
is mkv the best format now as i seen mts mp4 m4k like how many formats are there lol
MKV files are more versatile than MP4s.
There are quite a few container types, but most of the ones that work on most everything are MKV and MP4ā¦ depending what the streams are within them as that is whatās important.
AVI files suck all around and should be replaced with ANYTHING else.
what does mkv do over mp4?
ah well avis better the moi my camcorder older one records in moi friging windows media player cant play them have to use vlc player just to play it lol

There are differences many not worth mentioning, but MKV files are able to contain multiple tracks of the same type - MP4s not so much.
Playback support on many devices was once more reliable with MP4 files, but today, that isnāt so much an issue.
Today, an MKV file is preferred, if you can use it.
You can do more stuff with it.
ah ok so not necessary to convert the mp4s just the avis and my moiās must been a JVC camera format lol
i apprecaite all the input just wished this thing could load all the files up but thats ok
as i never figured out how to write a script for avidemux but im guess they both the same thing they refix the orginal video into a new video
i also remember the common format for devices was divxā¦ like you had to find a dvd player that supported dvix lol guess thats no longer lol
i have another question maybe you know or not,., does this program or is there a program can tell you if there is any corrupt videos i may have and flag them?

do you know of a bulk meta tag deleterā¦ i been using mp3tag but it loads up mkv but title shows up blank but in vlc player the title still in itā¦ is there a program loads up all and deletes itā¦ as i converting everything to mkv but wanna deleted all meta tags so plex doesnt have any issues later
