My Rasplex keeps trying to make a SSL connection (TCP/443) to an Amazon AWS compute server. Noticed this in the firewall logs, as Rasplex isn't going via our proxy and so is being blocked.
Before I allow it through, I'd like to know, what is it going to the Amazon server cluster for? Is that where it gets its updates from?
Plex is hosted on AWS servers…
Plex Connect (formerly myplex) keeps an active tunnel to access your device for remote control or remote access to libraries. If you do not want then to keep the tunnel open you can use plex without the connect service. You do loose remote access but, I personally have solved this with a VPN.
