Why is my scheduled recording not being recorded? And EPG Refresh gets stuck

I switched to station 27.4 to watch “Black Sheep Squadron” about 20-30 minutes into the show and did not get prompted to “Watch from the start”.

I looked in the web guide and the program is set to record. I looked in the Recording Schedule and it’s not listed to record for today.

Here are the logs.

This release of Plex is riddled with bugs from missed recordings to failure of guide updates to transcoding crashes, …

I just noticed “The Simpsons” is a new episode tonight and should record but is also not scheduled and the Program Guide update is once again hung. Rebooting the server as I did this AM.

I’m getting the feeling that many of the stability issues in this release are EPG related.

The M drive is a local drive to THIS machine although I do share it out as it is my Media drive.

I only had one of the listed files to delete M:\My DVR\Plex Media Server\Cache\gn_lists.gdb

I enabled debug logging.

I have no idea what a gracenote premium music service is and I can assure you I did nothing intentionally to incorporate it into my setup. Sounds like a Plex issue.

The EPG guide update is a SERIOUS issue since the latest release for me.

OK, you guys have GOT to fix this EPG stuff. As you requested, here are some more logs. This time it’s on channel 11.1, NCIS. I switched to the station, got no option to play from the beginning, checked the Recording Schedule, not there, checked the series, set to record new and old. Noticed artwork for guide missing on many stations in Plex app on ROKU, notice those same stations missing in web app Watch Now. Kicked off EPG update and saved logs.

I’ve missed more than 1/2 of the shows I’ve expected to record the past couple days.

I am about out of time on my Plex Pass trial. I want to buy a lifetime but not with all these issues. Can you extend my trial another month and/or send me the discounted code for the lifetime?

BIG BIG problems here.

I noticed when looking at my logs that the daily scheduled maintenance task for updating the EPG is failing. Attached is a log snippet from early this morning around 0400 that shows the EPG failure. Note, I masked out my IP address in this log.

Also, when I MANUALLY forced an EPG update this morning around 0615, it worked just fine. I currently have my settings NOT to pull the enhanced info and NOT to update more frequently as that seems to have corrected an issue I was having where scheduled recordings at 2000 were failing to record.

On a related question, how far out does the EPG data go? I know there are new airings of some shows scheduled for 4/16/18, but the recording schedule doesn’t list them (yet?).

cannot see any attempt to enable debug logging on the server

The sequence should be

SettingsServerGeneralShow Advanced → Tick Enable Plex Media Server debug Logging → Save Changes
Then restart the server
When the problem arises, note down the time. detail and post together with the downloaded logs

That was a temporary Rate Limiting ban by Cloudflare imposd at 04:03:53

It is being looked into by the development team

Are you ignoring that this is also happening outside of Canada???

@sa2000 said:
Update: investigation ongoing. Cloudflare are looking into setting up different route and this is being tested - still not resolved

The only logs i have seen from outside canada were for 2 users that had temporary IP ban and then timeouts after that. Work is ongoing at addressing the IP Bans and also reducing the number of requests

I have not seen any logs from outside canada where there is a solid fault of permanent timeouts

Multiple people have been mentioning this for days in this thread and others and you’ve commented on them.

I know there are more comments in THIS thread but here are a couple other thread…

In a brief review I see a user in IL sent logs on April 1.

Here are logs I’ve saved for other problems I reported. Perhaps one of them will give you more information

Talking about a problem and providing logs are two completely different things

The first one you linked i gave an answer - it was temporary ban and i have already said here what is happening with these

I cannot investigate issues from just a statement saying there is a problem

@Smokindog if you have provided logs and i have missed them - i apologize - please point me to the post

Look on April 1 where a user in IL reported and provided logs.

Also, I was editing my above post while you were responding.

You provided loads of logs here https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/315849/why-is-my-scheduled-recording-not-being-recorded but debug logging was disabled each time

There are no logs here https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/315768/stability-issues-with-version-1-12-1-4885#latest

and looking at this thread here - there is only one set of logs on the 1st April and debug logging disabled and in any case it was a rate limiting ban (which i already explained) - so not the same as the canada timeouts
See https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/comment/1645041/#Comment_1645041

If there is another one i missed - give me a link

You keep saying I need to enable debug logging. I asked you what more I needed to do. Please see attached screenshot. Maybe another bug???

Also see screenshot of another post in this thread from the user in IL, with logs posted.

The screenshot Post with logs.jpg is for the logs provided by @q5ka and i have already said that it had debug logging disabled and i have already mentioned that to the user. Furthermore, these logs did actually have relevant information as they showed the server was being rate limited
<title>Access denied | tmsapi.plex.tv used Cloudflare to restrict access</title>

This is different from what has been seen for the Ontario Canada users

The other screenshot you attached Debug logs.jpg was for your server and it does show that Debug Logging was enabled on your Bob Home SRVR00 server at the time the screenshot was taken - I do not know what time/day that screenshot was taken. However, I do know that during period Mar 25, 2018 18:25:09 to Apr 03, 2018 19:03:08 you had Debug Logging disabled.

If debug logging is still enabled on the server, please restart the server to get fresh logs created and then refresh the EPG and when you get the problem where it gets stuck, please note the time and download the logs and attach here and I will have a look

Here, there’s guide data missing, recordings missing from my list that should be there and I personally saw the guide was updating about an hour ago. I checked and the debug log is checked as shown in the previously provided screenshot, as it was for all those times you told me it was not. Sorry but it seems all I’ve been doing since the last update is babysit my Plex setup. There are serious issues. I’m trying to help but it’s getting a little frustrating. Given all the issues, could you see fit to extend my trial another 30 days?
