I have Big Bang Theory set to record new episodes. It is at the top of my recording priority. The DVR has failed to record the last 2 weeks even though it was listed on my recording schedule. Now that the show has passed, it is not even showing on my recording schedule. If it were, maybe I could at least find out what went wrong and why it didn’t record. Please advise.
I am currently unable to record anything at all. Looks like the transcoder is failing.

I’ve reported similar for other shows in other threads. I’ve got 8 tuners and only 2 watchers so that’s not it
My theory is all the EPG problems are causing these problems but there seems to be a focus on Canada when in fact the EPG update is more than just an ISP issue (IMHO).
Needs to be fixed. I’m missing more recordings than I’m getting.

You can see from http://forums.plex.tv/discussion/299084/epg-fails-to-update#latest that there was a specific issue affecting Ontario, Canada users for EPG updates and I did focus on that and it was a Cloudflare infrastructure issue which was resolved over the weekend.
There may well be other EPG issues and these are investigated from any logs provided but they are different from the specific Canada issue and in your case, i am consolidating all your posts which got into the canada users forum topic - into your existing topic that you raised here http://forums.plex.tv/discussion/315849/why-is-my-scheduled-recording-not-being-recorded-and-epg-refresh-gets-stuck/p1
I am almost finished consolidated the posts and will open up that thread for you
I have a similar issues as above, where I didn’t have a couple shows record. Earlier in the week it would show on the schedule, then it would not record at all. Odd part is other shows will record. I am having issues with Big Bang and MacGyver. I’m in the US, not sure what I should do next. I have used the channels feature to watch shows, but would rather have DVR.

I need more logs with debug logging to see if there is a common issue here. So please ensure debug logging is enabled on the server (settings / server / general / show advanced ) - restart server to get fresh logs created. When you have programs scheduled to record but they do not, capture the logs zip (settings / server / help / download logs) an£ attach here with details of what the programs were, times scheduled to record and channel

EXACT situation I’ve been reporting here and elsewhere!

No part
sounds like a tuner issue - signal quality ?

I have the logs and Debug had been enabled on my plex server. The 2 shows were on Thursday at 8pm(Big Bang Theory) ET and Friday at 8pm ET (I think)(MacGyver) both on CBS. I can keep an eye out and send you this weeks as well. I attached a screenshot of this weeks recordings. I’ll send logs again if they go away, but it does this then shows go away and won’t show up on recording schedule. Please let me know what else you need and how I can help. Thanks.

Suggest we investigate this with the new beta that came out earlier today - version 1.12.3. It has changes for EPG refresh
Please get screenshots to show that the recordings are scheduled to happen and then as we come up close to the time of the recordings. collect the server logs and also during the time of the shows and at the end
Also take screenshots of the schedule to confirm still showing or dropped off
It may be necessary to increase the number of log files - see Advanced server settings on this article
https://support.plex.tv/articles/201105343-advanced-hidden-server-settings/
The setting that needs to be added is LogNumFiles
which would hold the number of log files
Please ensure debug logging is enabled

The lost recordings were Thursday and Friday. The logs cover Monday from 08:44 to 09:59 - so not much time covered and during this period, there was an EPG Refresh which only reached 47% at 09:58
We need to capture the logs during the expected recording and after. Suggest same approach as I indicated for @nklemons
To increase log files on windows, use Regedit
Select HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Plex, Inc.\Plex Media Server
and right click on Plex Media Server
and select New
→ REG_DWORD (32-bit)
and create item and name it LogNumFiles
and give it a value of, say 40
decimal
Exit RegEdit
You can delete this LogNumFiles
at the end of all the investigations to get back to the default
Please upgrade to 1.12.3 to benefit from the changes for EPG Refresh - see release note http://forums.plex.tv/discussion/comment/1650553/#Comment_1650553
You could also see if changing the selection to record all and not just new makes a difference. I have come across EPG data where the New indicator was wrong
After updating to the new 1.12.3 beta, please make sure a manual EPG Refresh is done

Thanks for the info, I updated Plex to the latest and I did the Regedit you suggested above. Currently it shows the shows as on recording for this week. I will keep an eye on it and send logs as soon as things change. Let me know what else you need. Thanks.
Thank you - please take screenshots daily - in case the shows disappear. Might be an idea to capture logs zip and save it whenever you take the screenshot
To ensure the new registry key is used I would also suggest a reboot of the computer if you have not done that.

I’ll add MacGyver to record all shows. Big Bang adds too many to keep up with. But could be good to see if one option works over the other. How does that sound?
brilliant - thank you - we can compare outcome.
I’m having the same issue with The Big Bang Theory. Young Sheldon records just fine, which airs immediately after The BBT. I don’t have time to putz around with grabbing screen shots or logs, so I’ll just sit here waiting patiently with my bucket o popcorn. If it continues to be a problem after the 1.12.3 update and recordings for tomorrow I can assist with providing logs and whatnot.

I’m with you. I’ve provided a lot of examples, logs and screenshots. I like how ROKU does it. You hit a key sequence they give you and the ROKU sends them everything they need and the problem gets fixed. DirecTV has a special setup for testers that you click a single button and it sends everything. The data is correlated on the back end based on the device that sent it.
If you’re looking for the most skipped show for me it’s The Simpsons on Sunday evenings at 7PM on channel 4.1 in the DFW market. It always shows up in the recording schedule but never records and is gone from the schedule during its airing. I think it disappears some time before the airing but I’ve got too much going on to monitor all this. The reason I’m trying to switch from NextPVR is to reduce the amount of baby sitting I do. We have DVRs because we’re too busy to watch things when they are on. Think about that…
If you could provide a script to run and send everything you want perhaps it could be scheduled to run periodically. Or perhaps a one button report option.
I have been having this same problem. My EPG goes nuts at 7PM CT for one hour. So anything from 7-8PM CT I cannot record. Once 8PM happens, everything is fine again.
I am currently on Version 1.12.1.4885.
Before the show at 7PM, it shows up as on the recording schedule.
Maintenance is scheduled to start at 2AM.
