Why is Plex getting rid of TheTVDB agent for scanning TV shows?

I got the new Mac Mini M4 and I just got done setting everything up. I copied my TV shows over to the appropriate folders, season folder, etc. I followed TheTVDB to the “T” to ensure episodes were copied over to the correct season folder based on TheTVDB.

I had Plex scan my folders and noticed episode titles and info were missing. I figured it out and switch the agent from Plex’s sh*tty scanner back to TheTVDB. Problem solved! Yay! My episodes are all appearing as I intended.

NOW I get a big red ! mark saying that I need to upgrade my libraries and that “legacy” agents will not be supported in the future. WHY!?!? LET ME PICK WHAT AGENT I WANT TO USE!

Someone please explain to me why Plex is taking TheTVDB away? What website am I supposed to use now to ensure episodes are in their correct folders based on the Plex scanner. This is so stupid.

The new agent uses TMDB episode ordering by default. If you always follow TVDB, you can change that in the library’s advanced settings (Manage Library > Edit > Advanced > Episode ordering > TheTVDB):

The metadata itself will still be a combination of other sources, but the episodes themselves should be matched correctly.
