This is baffling and and if I am not mistaken in conflict with GDPR. Not a facebook user, never was, never will be. And yet data about me ended up at that corporation which I never opted in or agreed to.
I have not received any information about this problem from Plex. But if this happened, I would assume they are obliged to inform users.
If this is caused by “Login with Facebook” it feels like now is a great time to remove that option.
Plex iOS changelog for 6.10 reads:
- Re-enabled certain Facebook reporting events for a limited time on new app installs. Events remain disabled for app updates. see Plex for iOS - #128 by Stevenson-Price
What are those “Facebook reporting events”? Where are those documented? Are they opt-in? Why aren’t they mentioned in the Privacy Policy?
Don’t get me wrong, I love Plex, the software, they have an awesome team of humans which I regard with high respect, but lately (~past 2 years or so) it seems some crazy marketing people jumped their boat.
