Why is the official Docker image not up-to-date?

I use the docker version of plex in unRAID. Plex shows that there is a new version, but if I look in the official repo https://hub.docker.com/r/plexinc/pms-docker it’s not updated yet.

Is there a reason for this?

Is it not 1.41.2.9200 which is the current version?

Docker does not get beta versions.

What do you have your tag variable set to?

The way the docker version usually works is you stop and start the container and it up dates to the latest version.

Here is the text from the link you included regarding tags:

I believe if you are set to the latest and you are logged into your Plex account with Plex Pass, when you restart the container, it should update to the latest version you are entitled too.

@BigWheel, that is not correct that Docker does not get beta versions. My test server, using Docker with the Linuxserver.io container, is currently on version 1.41.3.9276.

@shark2k I use the plexpass tag. But also latest makes no difference. In my link you can also see that it was updated 24 days ago. Also i nthe tags section here: https://hub.docker.com/r/plexinc/pms-docker/tags. 1.41.2.9200 is listed here also as the latest version.

Maybe @BigWheel is correct that the official docker doesn’t give you beta versions. But then your quoted section about the tags makes no sense.

No, that is not the case. I use the official Docker image from Plex with the ‘plexpass’ tag. It updates to the latest PlexPass beta release whenever it is restarted (should a new version be available).

The image doesn’t necessarily need to be updated for every new PMS version; when started, it checks to see if a new version is available and updates if so. This behavior is only true for the ‘public’ and ‘plexpass’ tags, not ‘latest’.

Note that the above is only true (regarding the beta updates) if the server is claimed by an account with an active Plex Pass.

[Edit]
Also, ensure you have set your server update channel to ‘beta’ in the server’s general settings.

I was wrong. I was thinking of something else.

I figured it out. This 4 year old post is still valid: GUIDE: Official Plex Docker for Unraid - Update to Plexpass/Beta Version

You have to change the repository to beta. The tag is irrelevant. At least for unRAID that is
