WHY is the server transcoding my downloads?

Server Version#:QNAP 4.145.1
Player Version#: IOS, latest as of 2025-04-02, the redesigned one.

I can’t get the server not to transcode when i download to my IOS device.

I have on IOS:
quality set to “original”. wifi-only. no storage limit
Burn subtitles set to “never”.
Just reinstalled the app, no difference.

i have on server:
set “internet upload speed” to 2000mbps
set transcoder to “prefer high quality transcoding” (but i don’t want it at all!)

What can i do to make the player just download the video as-is?

Thankful for pointers.

Yep same issue here. this new app is a real sonos app style upgrade.

I have also tried reinstalling the app, tested multiple devices. This was not happening with the last app version. I have a 300mb video file getting transcoded to a 1gb+ file to be synced.

If i dont keep the app open it will transcode and then fail to download also.

It seems to happen with all files with dd+ audio on my Android 15 phone. So looks like it only transcodes audio.
