I downloaded a couple video from youtube through online conversion. When i try to have Plex scan for files, it didn’t pick up those files as videos and not shown in the library.
Is there a way to fix the video meta data to ensure it shows up in plex library?
Need more info. If you name the file correctly and place it in a folder that is being scanned it should work. (Assuming there is actual metadata out there …come to think of it, there probably isn’t because you would never download copyrighted material…you’ll probably need to make up your own metadata.)
Once I downloaded and I put it in the TV Show folder, Plex should technically detect the file right? It’s in .mp4 format but Plex didn’t.
For files downloaded from youtube video how would Plex get the information? Is there a doc to show how to add own metadata so Plex can display the video?
Move the video to a new, different folder.
Then create a new Library for it, select “other videos”, finish creating the library by:
Adding the new, different folder that has the downloaded video in it.
And it should show up just fine under Other Videos with whatever Plex client you’re using.
(For items in the TV Shows or Movies libraries, files MUST follow the prescribed file naming conventions or the files will not show up)
