Copied eight files downloaded off youtube earlier today in to an existing folder in the /tv directory.
hit ‘update libraries’, went off to work, came back, just tried viewing these now.
nothing. not one file visible.
has plex got something against youtube?
copied a different new file in to bugtest, works just fine.
server is updated, everything = latest build.
renamed files with correct filenames.
does anything stand out for anyone. normally i would not care but i paid two numbers for this thing, so yeah, i need it to work, ideally.
Have you followed the folder and file naming rules required by Plex for TV Shows?
If so, please EXACTLY your folders structure and filenames.
Oh, if these are .mp4 files, make sure to remove any metadata/tags embedded in those files.
And last but not least, you may need to do the Plex Dance if you’ve renamed the files and rescanning did not work.
Is this Youtube “series” actually listed on TheTVDB.com ?

never mentioned the word ‘series’.
I concluded from your use of the folder name “tv” that you meant a series.
In Plex “TV Show” = “Series”.
Everything else is a “movie” or a “video” (which is actually the same library type, just with different metadata agent.)
