Why Plex add-on for Kodi works better than Plex app?

Playing mkv files on the same device, same network, same server will have different behavior:

  • with Plex app, will buffer a lot;
  • with Plex add-on within Kodi, will play just fine.
    I’ve been reading threads and turns out that this could be because of transcoding process when using native player from the Plex app.

Why there is no option to have direct play (like in Kodi add-on) instead of transcoding ?
