Why Rasplex when Kwiboo has already complied OE 5.0.1 +PHT 1.3.5 4 RP2?

Hi I may be missing something but I am using the build Kwiboo compiled and it is bloody brilliant. Fluid, fast, every file I play works, beautiful PHT interface and I can see it is using all 4 core on the new PI2. What (if anything) are people waiting for with the new Rasplex release?

Thanks in advance

Simon

You mean like, WiFi, Samba, keyboard settings, optimised ARM7 code, etc, etc. if you think that is brilliant wait to see the new Rasplex in a couple of days. Incidentally, Kwiboo is now working on Rasplex with us.

Don't see how anyone can call standard Plex HT interface 'beautiful', but each to their own.

Regards

I like the sound of all that Ned! Thanks for the reply, I suspected I had missed something.

In the interim I must say its really good..

Where can I find this build?

Its quite simply awesome.

Thanks! Will try it later tonight! Could you post some screens of maybe a quick video?

Least I'm not the only one that thinks this....yuck...

It plays media beautifully and it might just be me but there is nothing radically different between rasplex and kwiboo interface (in my humble opinion). Fast efficient and plays everything I have thrown at it. I look forward to seeing the new rasplex to see the difference. If a 1080p plays flawlessly on kwiboo build I don’t think it can play any more flawlessly… right?

Ned and I were talking about the interface before you play a movie.

There are other skins you can use that look much better, the rasplex on the old pi plays 1080p just fine (if h264 since it has a hardware decoder). There are other types that can hardware decode as well (vc-1 and mpeg2), but you need to buy a license for it.

Ok I see. Really looking forward to it. It is just amazing how well this little card plays media on RP2 and is speedy through menus. Roku etc, game over.

i just tested it and it works great!

Can someone please advise how I install Kwiboo's build on a pi2?

i second that. it would be very helpful.

yes please help. I don't understand how to do this.

thanks !

Is there guide how to create Kwiboo for PI2 sdcard on windows?

This http://wiki.openelec.tv/index.php?title=Building_and_Installing_OpenELEC_for_Raspberry_Pi#Cross_Compiling_and_Build_Systems is for linux only i guess.

Can someone who successfully builded it and running please share sdcard image?

Ive hosted the originally compiled images that have been subsequently removed.

Thank you, so far i like it more then rasPlex. I hope there will be rasplex release based on this or newer openElec soon. UI is so fluid :D

Not that the latest rasplex would be unusable on PI2 in any way. I don't have any issuse with PlexElec build by Kwiboo as it is and that is awsome :).

Completely agree which is why I started the thread. At this early stage Kwiboo is better for sure.

PlexELEC-RPi2.arm-5.0.1-e7a4d14.img or PlexELEC-RPi2.arm-5.0.1-948934c.img? I know the frist one is based on 1.36 (plexpass) and the second one, thats newer, based on 1.35. Is that the only reason for releasing another one, because of 1.36 thats only eligible by plexpass users? Which one is fastest?

No discernible difference in speed, both quicker than Rasplex.
