Why removing EAC3 support ?

Hello,

I’ve seen the “Remove support for EAC3 audio tracks in mkv containers” in the changelog.

Can you explain why ?
It was working fine, for me at least.

In a more general way, can you give some explanations regarding the changes in the changelog ?

Thanks for your work

Because under certain circumstances it was causing an issue loading or extended stuttering during playback. Because it was narrowed down to the eAC3 but not a specific property of eAC3 the only option was to transcode the eAC3. Once the issue is investigated and fixed by Microsoft Plex will be able to re-enable support for the eAC3 audio.

Thank you for the explanation.
Makes sens (even if I never encountered the mentionned issue)

Fixed by MS, not plex?

The decoders are a part of the media player framework. There isn’t anything Plex can do to fix it because the media player framework on the Xbox is controlled solely by Microsoft.

Does anyone know what the status of this is?
