I have a DJI drone that records video with no audio component. These videos will not play on Plex. I have determined after adding a blank/null audio file to the video component through Adobe Premiere that the video will then play in Plex from Plex server. Has anyone come across this problem? How do I report this to Plex as I cannot find a way to contact them directly?
Hmmm
I also have a DJI Drone…
All videos I take with it (Also no Audio) play fine on Plex…
Logs maybe need to be posted
Is your DJI 4k or 1080p??
What codec is the DJI using for your video??
And lastly…
This is the ONLY way to contact Plex if you are lucky!!!
Many clients, but not all, have the opposite problem in that they will not play videos files that contain only an audio track. That used to be one way to get the ability to resume audio books. That is change the file name from mp3 to mp4 or m4v which effectively created a video file with only an audio track. That kind of file would play fine on a Roku but not on many other devices.
It is not surprising that files with no audio component fail to play on some clients. but may well play on other clients. The folks here would, along with logs, need to know which clients are involved.
I want to specify that the videos do not play when trying to play on a Plex app from a distant server. The videos will play when played from the server where the videos are physically located. Videos are mp4 1080 29.9 fps. Do you mean this forum is the only way to grab the attention of Plex?
@tillitea
Yup…
This is it… LOL
If it’s a lucky day, someone from Plex MAY decide to help.
Sometimes you do not get a response for years, others right away but a lot of times never…
Depends on which way the wind blows…
Well I do have to say I never have tried my DJI videos to a remote client.
Can you attach logs that show when the failure occurs…
Well that’s just great. Every man for himself it appears.
- So…I can play the DJI Spark videos located on my Macbook Pro HD when using my Mac as the server.
- My Nividia Shield android box when used as the server will not play the same videos from my NAS. It says “Unable to play Media”.
- If I try to stream the videos located on my Mac when using the Mac as the server to my Nvidia Shield android box I get the error message “An error occurred while try to play this video. Please try restarting the Plex media server and this app.”
Numbers 2 and 3 are fixed when I create a filler/null audio file and re-encode it with the DJI Spark video. Go figure?
The Spark’s video parameters are not adjustable as far as I know.
I will provide a log, but I don’t know where to go to find the log in Plex.
So I found how to get logs but not sure which files are of interest.
The Plex PMS logs…

Put the zip file here as an attachment.
Here is the zip file.
@jjrjr1 any thoughts?
There’s a bug in the public Android & Android TV clients WRT video w/o audio stream. Fix under test in the beta releases.
From post in Plex Pass area:
We are aware of this issue. A fix will be included in a future update. If you are in the Android Beta program, the fix is already there to test.
I have same issue.
I edit a video that did work on remote connection bu taking out audio.
Same issue as playing a drone video with no audio.
