Wifi issue

Hello,

I tried to use Wifi instead of Ethernet but when I enter my key and try to connect I have a error message :

"Network Error - Invalid Arguments".

I have a wifi dongle Edimax and a Raspberry PI rev. B and and It is working with Openelec or Raspbmc.

I use the 9.2.20 version of Rasplex.

Many thanks for your help.

No one have an idea?

i honestly cant recall as I was messing around one day w/ 2 diff rasp pis 256/512 and openelec, raspbmc and rasplex.

I had and a Buffalo n adapter I think that was frustrated with raspbmc and rasplex didnt work but works just fine w/ openelec...except that on bootup i have to cycle wifi on/off or replug it in.

I also couldnt access any if the SID was hidden even though open some would know it was hidden and attempt to let me logon, i couldnt.

Its a bit odd since I think at least rasplex uses openelec as a base.

Anything that would be supported in RPi OE should be supported in RasPlex as we're based on OE 3.2.2.

After 0.4.0 is out, we'll look into merging with OE 4.0 (Gotham Code) this might improve the driver support.

There has been already a couple decent beta releases on RPi, maybe you could check them out to see if your adapter is supported in there :)

If so ... then you'll need to wait for a merge before this comes down to RasPlex.

Well, my wifi dongle already works well with Openelec ;-(

I like Plex and was very interested in Rasplex but I think i will test Chromcast soon instead.

Chromecast arrives in march in France.

Which version of Openelec does you dont work with ?

RasPlex is using the OE 3.2.2 codebase. Should it work there it should work on ours as we have no patch in the OE kernel ... that is pretty strange.

Should it work in higher versions of OE, then you might have to wait for a bit longer. After 0.4.0 is out, the next big step is to move to Gotham which means OE 4.0. That new OE version is supposed to bring a much better driver supprot because it has a more recent linux kernel.

ChromeCast is cool ,though it has nothing really to do with Plex Client in any ways, there is no GUI, you need a good PMS server as it needs a lot more remuxing / transcoding.

Personally for the same price i'd rather stick with a RPi :)

I  have installed  0.4.0 RC1, same issue. I give up wifi with rasplex, I will use Ethernet.

That's a smart move in any case, as there are several reasons why WiFi is likely to give worse results, even when the WiFi functionality is perfect.

One of those reasons is that normal WiFi packet collisions with neighbour LANs usually reduces the effective bandwidth considerably.
