WiiM Mini / WiiM Pro support

Server Version#: 4.145.1 (yes, running on an old iMac, and can’t upgrade)
Player Version#: Plex for WiiM

I was excited to learn that WiiM devices had received a native Plex client, and so ordered one. No luck; it’s rumored that it successfully works for a subset of users who have their Plex server running on the same local network, but, in my use case, I need to access the server remotely.

I really need a clear understanding of whether the development of third-party apps is something that the device manufacturer is solely responsible for, or whether the Plex team works with the manufacturers to get their devices working with the Plex platform.

Some very limited testing confirms that the WiiM Pro that I’m testing with does not even attempt to hit the network where the server is hosted. A connection from my mobile phone immediately fills the Plex logs with detailed connection data, while the WiiM successfully looks up my Plex account and obtains the name of my Plex server from Plex’s servers, but then lists my Plex server as ‘unavailable,’ and I see absolutely no traffic hitting either my server, the host on which the server is running, or even the router on the edge of the network.

I purchased the WiiM for this specific use, and had reasonable expectation that Plex would work, given that the device is now being marketed as supporting the service. I don’t know whether Plex has some sort of certification program, but if so, is there any way to find out if WiiM is working with Plex to get this functioning?

Thanks so much for any insights!
