Running updated versions of Plex 1.14.0.5470 and I get Buffering issue as I play movies off my Dell Poweredge T30 Running an Intel Xeon E3-1225 at 3.30GHZ. I am currently using integrated graphics.
Will a GTX 10 Series GPU help me out with one 4k and one 1080p, both simultaneous streams?
When are you getting buffering and what is the typical size of the videos you play? The CPU isn’t the issue and in your case, your CPU has quick sync so it should be able to transcode at least one stream. It sounds like you might have other issues. Please supply additional info like client youre playing on and if youre playing locally or remotely.
I’m getting them mid-stream. The video sizes are usually about 1gb. I have my transcoder settings on “prefer higher quality” with background transcoding x264 preset “very fast”. I’m playing it on a PS4 in the same network.
I have my hands on an Nvdia Tesla. Would that help?
PS development, I’ve heard has been terrible. You don’t have any other clients to use? Again, I really dont think your issue is your server. also is your connection to the server and the ps4 wireless? is anything hardwired? and how old is your router?
Plex workability ALWAYS depends on the client. Especially with 4K content. Sorry, but i kinda glossed over the 4K part of your issue. I just replied to another post in regards to 4K content being a completely different beast that will bring your entire setup to its knees depending on everything you have, from your wireless connectivity to the client and the plex server itself.
You stated that the size of the files youre playing is only 1 GB, but what is the bitrate? and how old is your router? believe me when i say that all of this matters and not just that your wifi is fantastic.
