Yep, photo’s app needs some love, including HEIC, or admit defeat Plex and remove it. I’d much prefer some effort in this area.
Just starting with Plex and disappointed you don’t support HEIC format. At least they could indicate what to expect.

As much as PLEX are trying to survive the process to transition to a content delivery service for compliance with major vendors, how about you focus on the life blood of your subscription base and actually support local photo and recorded media! Ignoring this is seriously harming the PLEX brand.

Is there a way we could even get some info as to if support for HEIC is even something Plex is considering in image libraries?

I’m guessing part of the reason this still isn’t implemented is because there are still no web browsers that support HEIC (HEIF/ISO Base Media File Format | Can I use... Support tables for HTML5, CSS3, etc), meaning some kind of transcoder would need to implemented into the backend for images, or client side javascript library that might not work everywhere. As others have said a roadmap or update posted in this thread would assuage the masses who have arrived here via Google. Thank for all your work building this amazing piece of software!
