I’ve been waiting for this forever, does anyone know if the new Chromecast with Google TV support using google assistant to play media on plex?
Nope. This has nothing to do with the specific Google device. Accessing your server is not something that can be done using Google right now. It’s a Google limitation.

That’s Google Assistant, which is not the same as Google Home. Google Assistance basically helps control the device it is running on. It cannot be used to control other things like Google home does.
Your answer confused me. Are you saying that “Okay Google, Play The Americans on Plex” will only work for the Nvidia Shield?
Yes. It’s controlling the Plex app on Shield, which should work.
So it cannot control the plex app on the new chromecast with google tv?
No, Google Assistant can only control the app it is running on.

I don’t heave the new device so I can’t say for sure, but if it is a Chromecast device, the Plex app doesn’t run until you start casting already, so Google Assistant won’t be able to control it. You may be able to use that to pause playback after it’s started, but it’s unlikely to be able to start playback.
