I know it won’t be updated anymore after 30 January 2020, but will it still be usable if I have it installed or will it no longer allow me to log in, for example?
Plex will not purposely make PMP cease to function. The plan is they will just no longer further develop and support PMP. It will work until some future new version of PMS changes a fundamental mechanism that makes it defunct. No real way to predict when that will be in the future.
Thanks. Good to know. Turning off all player, server and mobile app updates then
Yeah, that’s called planned obsolescence, and that’s disgusting. If they decide to one day stop supporting Samsung TVs because of some contract falling through, what are Samsung TV owners expected to do? Buy a new TV?

What is not helpful?
That’s software engineering. If you don’t actively support a platform/use-case, it will break over time. Could be 5 years after they stop supporting, or could be the day after. They can do what they want, they have the control.
Don’t tell me you (or a friend) never had to replace a perfectly functioning device because the company making it decide to drop support, lying about the actual reason (I’m looking at you Apple, making people believe some new hardware was needed for Siri).
You talk in riddles, and your attitude is not helpful. I have never had support issues prior to EOL.
You have the power also with your feet or click of a mouse. As for the Apple hate, that does not belong in this forum.
The plan is bad, very bad…
Not my decision. I am simply answering his question. I am one of the biggest advocates of PMP.
I am sorry, I know it’s not your decision. I just wanted to say how I am too very disappointed in Plex taking away PMP.
Greetz
I’m not here to complain, and I don’t want to be that guy, but for whatever reason, PMP is much smoother and uses way less recourses than plex app. It has it’s issues, but at least it’s not slow and recourse heave like the new app.
