Win 11 Server Version 1.40.3.8555 Update problems

Not on C:. but I have it on D: where I keep the media files. It is healthy.

Which file system did you use to format this drive D:?

Hmmmm… It is set up as Windows Storage Spaces, NTFS. It was quite a while ago.

You cannot move the Plex data folder onto a Windows Storage Spaces volume. It will cause exactly the error you are experiencing. Posters are not available/selectable.

I never had any intention of moving anything. Not sure where that come from.
Plex Server is running on C:
Media Storage is on D:
and Please backup files are on E:

I guess I should go back to the db files I had after plex moved. I think those would have the least or no corruption.

Sorry, I have misunderstood you above.

Let’s go back to

Was this a movie or a tv show episode in your screenshot?

That was a Movie. If I click on Refresh Metadata, it brings back the Posters and Backgrounds though not the ones previously chosen.

This sounds like a part of the metadata bundle got lost. And with it of course the poster selection.
Is it possible that this is a relatively old server setup? i.e. was the movie library originally created with one of the legacy agents?
It sounds almost as if the library was is a state of unfinished conversion to the modern agent.

In any case, you will have to decide whether you want to fix the library in its current state, or start over with a completely blank slate.

Well, not sure what you mean by an old legacy setup. But this has been running for a few years.

I would prefer something stable to move forward with.

Legacy metadata agent.

The one that this article is explaining how to be replaced by its modern counterpart: https://support.plex.tv/articles/upgrading-a-movie-library-to-the-use-the-new-plex-movie-agent/

Then my recommendation would be to start from scratch.
(I’d use the opportunity to avoid some of the mistakes that every new Plex user does in the beginning, and take a look at the media files, their naming and organisation in a folder structure. Change them to avoid tedious corrections inside of Plex.)

Starting over is easy: (this will remove all playback data, all collections, all playlists, and all libraries!)
Stop the Plex server using its task tray icon
Clean out the Plex data folder.
Start Plex server.

I found this:
https://support.plex.tv/articles/repair-a-corrupted-database/
Would repairing the db work?

Also, this link references just deleting the com.plexapp.plugins.library.db file, not the entire
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server folder.

Is this what you meant?

You can certainly try it.

If you want to avoid typing in all those command line strings, here is a script: PlexDBRepair/Windows at master · ChuckPa/PlexDBRepair · GitHub
(but it expects the database to be present in the current location that corresponds to the registry’s LocalAppDataPath)

No, I actually mean emptying out the whole folder.

You can also just direct it to a newly created folder, by changing the LocalAppDataPath in the registry. That way you can revert to the old data folder if you don’t think a startover is going to work out.
