Windows 10 laptop: how to always send audio to HDMI even when laptop display is powered off?

I have PLEX server on a Windows 10 laptop (Lenovo Yoga 730) connected to a HT receiver using HDMI cable. When listening to music files on the laptop, I use my iPad to control music playback to the receiver. I don’t use the TV connected to the receiver. The laptop is in HT equipment closet. Everything works perfectly except …

I have the laptop settings so that the laptop display is powered off after just one minute of inactivity. I don’t need the laptop display for anything - it just wastes power and generates heat. But when the laptop display goes to sleep, the audio stops going over HDMI cable to receiver. Instead the audio comes out of laptop speakers.

On the Windows 10 laptop, I checked the volume/audio settings and the receiver connected to HDMI is listed as the default playback device so that all looks good. It is Intel audio chipset i think.

Why does laptop display going to sleep cause HDMI audio to stop? How can i fix?

thanks

On my iPad, I use PLEX app to cast to either the PLEX web app on windows laptop or the PLEX Media Player on the laptop. In either case, when the laptop display powers down, audio stops going over HDMI and only goes to laptop speakers. How to fix? thanks
