[Windows 10 Update KB4338819 issue] Conversion Failed. The transcoder exited due to an error

The issue relating to the windows update is specifically relating to these errors in the Plex Media Server.log file

are you saying you have these same errors ?

If not - then this forum thread is not relevant to you and you can raise a new forum topic with screenshot of the error and server logs and indication of time of error so an investigation can start

All,

I have this issue also. I have been running plex on the same platform for may years. Windows 10 Latest Updates and Plex. Latest Public build. I am also getting random transcode errors. It is definitely not the media files as I have played them before on plex with no problems. I have never ever had an issue with plex before. If I have it has been due to operator error or network problems. I have tried so many different things to see if I can isolate the problem but nothing works. The problem is also very intermittent. So it takes a while to determine if my last change fixed the problem.

My only real observation is that it seems to happen on my Apple TV more frequently than direct play on the same computer as the Plex Server. My Apple TV 4’s are running the latest IOS and Plex client. I have two of them and they all fail intermittently with Transcode errors.

Steve

Hi there - chiming in to mention that this same issue has been driving everyone on my server nuts for 2 weeks. While I don’t have time to read all 200+ posts, it sounds like I’ll start with updating windows 10 and going to the beta Plex version.

Highly annoying - can provide logs if still needed.

Windows 10 Ryzen 2700x - transcoder crashing on Roku, Xbox and most often Chromecast.

Hi there. I have the KB4338819 installed on my win10 64bit and I had the issue since a few days, decided to uninstall plex and reinstall the last version on the website Plex-Media-Server-1.13.5.5291-6fa5e50a8 then updated my nvidia geforce drivers to 398.82 and so far so good when I had the issue every 5 min yesterday. Just in case it can help, I will let u guys know if the issue comes back. For information I’m playing the same video file than yesterday, streaming on an apple tv plex app. Latest Win10 updates I received so far :

Don’t need to read the whole thread for the windows update issue. Just the first post and linked to it the first post that gave the solution

The errors in the log that relate to this windows bug are mentioned here
