Windows PC Client shows with over 50 episodes

Server Version#: 1.14.1.5488
Player Version#: Newest Public windows PC version ( not the windows app )

I thought it was maybe my PC, but i recently replaced the HTPC i built with a completely new and smaller HTPC ( i3, 16GB 128GB M.2 ) that has the 630UHD video built in with HDMI 2.0 ( also has DP and HDMI 1.2 ports ) for 4K content viewing. Anyhow, i have a few anime series that have gone past the 50 episode mark ( Black clover, one piece ) and it seems that once they do that or around that mark( not 100% sure ), the Windows PC client that you download from the plex website, will start to select the first episode in that series instead of the latest one.

Walk through for the issue:

  1. New episode shows up in the “on deck” area.
  2. i click on the new episode
  3. the view changes to the series page, but instead of sliding over to the newest episode, it just selects the first episode. And of course, if you just hit play, it will play the first episode instead of the newest one that you clicked in the on deck section of the main screen.

I get other series in and they dont do this as they have a smaller number of episode(i am guessing), but i realized once Black Clover went over 50ish episodes that it stopped moving over on that screen to the newest episode.

The web client doesnt seem to do this, but the web client seems to go directly to the episode rather than a screen with all the previous episodes like the windows client does.

Thoughts?

are these shows with more than 50 episodes total or do you mean more than 50 in a single season

PS: that app is called Plex Media Player

Plex Media Player Version: 2.25.0.940-485e2ea4 ( didnt have a chance to grab that earlier )

Great question, one i have been asking for a while. Unfortunately, with Anime shows, the season episode counts are all over the place. For instance, on wikipedia, Black Clover stops at episode 51 for season 1, but if you bring up AniDB, they say the show is still in season 1(sonarr shows it as one season as well). Often times with anime, the season doesnt change until the main plot line ends. Buroto is another new tv show that also shows it still on season 1 and on episode 89.

Folder wise, all of my shows are established by Sonarr with a Season folder for each season (Season 1, Season 2, etc… ) under the series main folder. All four shows that i noted have all of their files under that “Season 1” folder.

I tried the windows 10 app, it does the same thing the web interface does, it goes directly from “on deck” to the episode instead of showing all the episodes.
