Error:
“A codec required for playback could not be downloaded. Make sure you are connected to the Internet and try again”
Logs shows:
ERROR - Unzip: could not rename zip output directory: Access is denied
ffmpeg/audio: truehd_eae: EAE watchfolder is not writable: \\?\C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Plex\Plex Media Server\Cache\Transcode\Sessions\EasyAudioEncoder\Convert to WAV (to 8ch or less)\frame-48420-0-test.tmp
Anti-virus was already disabled.
Plex was run with admin privliged.
The video trying to play is 4K. Play on ios device with no issue.

It should already have full control of the folder as the process is run as admin. But anyway I tried but giving ‘Everyone’ full control of the folder did not work.
In the log of the path, it started with \\?\C:\ I am not sure why that \\?\ is there and if that causes the issue.
I can only trace down to the C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Plex\Plex Media Server\Cache\Transcode\Sessions folder, the Sessions folder is empty as I do a retry(the same log generated).
I am not sure the logic here. So the windows app is trying to access the server(which is on the NAS) using the localhost address?
Is this error saying that it can not determine the interface on the app (client windows machine) or the host (plex server on NAS)?
The internet connection on both device is fine. All other service work. And I am able to use an ios device to play the same video with no issue. I would need to know what exactly the network configuration I need to change.
Oh I see you just change NAS to PC on your last post. I am using the same windows replying this message. So the internet from windows to plex.tv should be fine.
Also, it seems it is trying to access the decoder using the loopback interface. I want to know is this normal behavior for the client app? If that is the case I might have to adjust other things because I was not expecting the client app needs to connect to itself using localhost. Let me try to see if that’s the issue.
Let me ask more question here maybe someone will know.
As I say the Sever which is hosted on NAS, and the client is a windows PC on the same network.
Now when I check the log from the start of the client I see this:
2020-12-06T01:59:38.281 [ INFO ] [Web] [MediaServerEventManager] Opening server event connection to kidwhb at wss://192-168-1-169.808141323e594e489c7d9f53b0534e29.plex.direct:32400/:/websockets/notifications?X-Plex-Token=REDACTED 2020-12-06T01:59:38.281 [ INFO ] [Web] [Connections] Adding possible loopback connection for kidwhb 2020-12-06T01:59:38.281 [ INFO ] [Web] [Connections] Added connection http://127.0.0.1:32400 for kidwhb
So here after it see the server which is on 192.168.1.169 it seems to try to add a connection to it on the localhost. And then it trys to reach the server using this localhost address which will failed
2020-12-06T01:59:38.282 [ INFO ] [Web] [Connections] Testing connection for kidwhb at http://127.0.0.1:32400/media/providers
So I don’t know why it is trying to do it in this way instead of just using the 196 address.
Here is the log that shows this: (File removed)
I wonder if the windows app is just a window wrap of a web app. so everything is through localhost.
Update:
I deleted the Plex for Windows (1.24.0.1483-714cba36) and install the Plex Media Player (for Windows Home Theater PCs) (2.58.0.1076-38e019da) Video play with no issue.
FYI: In Plex Media Player (for Windows Home Theater PCs) those error for [Connections] [Loopback] is unavailable at http://127.0.0.1:32400/media/providers (Status 0) is still there.
Here is the log of Plex Media Player if anyone can help find out why this one work. (File removed)
