Plex for Windows 10 fails to start. I’ve tried to update to the latest version and run both as and not as administrator.
I’d be happy to hear if you have any suggestions on how to solve this?

Have you tried the following:
Be aware though, you may need to go to Plex Settings > Authorised Devices > Server and remove all entries there, then close and re-open Plex/Web.
You may need to sign in again and claim the server in Plex Settings > Server > General.
In your Plex apps, you may need to unpin/pin your libraries again.
This is because your server ID may have changed.
If the above does not work, then you may need to uninstall Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019 redistributable (x64 & x86) and then repeat the above.
With a little luck that should work.
Hello Trumpy81,
Thank you for your response.
I might have been unclear, but this is the Plex app for Windows 10. Whhere I can view movies and TV shows etc.
I am able to acccess my server, Plexamp and Plex web viewer on this PC. I can also access Plex via several other apps and devices.
For some reason however the Windows 10 app fails to start…
Ah, so you meant Plex for Windows?
No matter, the same instructions apply, minus the instructions related to the Plex Media Server of course ![]()
Yes. Plex for Windows is the correct name. I have tried to uninstall en reinstall without luck…
Did you uninstall Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019 redistributable (x64 & x86) and then repeat the instructions I gave you?.
No, but what I did was to uninstall a couple of more times. What I saw however was that even though Windows said Plex was uninstalled, I could see all files still present in the directory.
Running the uninstall exe file in the Plex directory directly removed all files. When reinstalling again Plex started as normal.
Thank you for your advice!
