wintv-dualhd not working properly with Live TV

I just installed my Dual HD device today, but I’m not able to get it to show up in the DVR section of Plex Media Server settings. Log files are attached. I checked dmesg and I’m able to see the tuner properly there without error messages, so I’m not sure what’s happening.

The Plex Tuner Service says:

Which means Plex doesn’t have permission. Try doing ‘sudo usermod -a -G video plex’ to give the plex user access to the video group, which is likely where /dev/dvb/adapter1/frontend0 lives and you should be good to go.

I just ran the command and then restarted the service, but the device still doesn’t show up. I’m attaching the updated log file.

Can you give me the output of a request to http://127.0.0.1:32600/devices/discover? That will tell us what exactly Plex Tuner Service thinks about your tuner. From the log it looks like PTS sees your tuner, but doesn’t return any information about it back to PMS.

You’re on a rather old version of PMS. I was trying to figure out why that wasn’t merging the two tuners into one in that response, since I know for a fact that we fixed it.

Oh wow, you are right. When I click update it says I’m using the latest version, but what I’m seeing on the download page is different. I’m updating manually now and will keep you posted.

That did it! The tuner was picked up immediately after I upgraded. I’m not sure why the Update functionality didn’t find the latest version, but I’m good to go now. Thank you!

Do you have the update channel in settings set to Plex Pass or Public?
