Wired server to wireless TV, vise-versa

Server Version#: 1.13.5.5332
Player Version#: LG WebOs 2.1.0

My Plex server runs on my laptop. I would stream media on my LG 4k TV. When both devices are on wifi, everything is fine. However, when either my laptop or my TV (I only have one ethernet wire) are connected via ethernet to my router while the other is wireless, the server can no longer be reached. Is their a solution to this or a setting I’m missing?

Thanks,

You need to close Plex server.
Then switch to the other network connection.
Then restart Plex server and wait a few minutes.

what other network? They are connected to the same router, one is just connected via ethernet wire while the other is on the wifi

Not ‘other network’ but ‘other network connection’.
If you change from wired to wireless and vice versa, your server gets a different IP address.
Your clients won’t know of the changed IP unless you restart plex server.

How do I switch over the other network connection? You mean they should both be on the wireless connection?

‘Switching over’ means just plugging in the network wire. And maybe disabling WiFi.
Or the other way around.

Thank you for taking the time to help me.

I’ll need a little more info here. I’ve only one Ethernet wire. There’s no way to turn off WiFi on the TV.

What I’d like to do is connect the laptop with the plex server via Ethernet so the internet is more stable especially since upload speeds are important for plex streaming. But the TV app says the plex server is offline/unreachable.

All the time I was talking about what do do after you have connected your laptop to the ethernet wire.
Restart your server
wait a few minutes
maybe restart (power off and back on) your tv as well after that
