As I identified that my buffering problems where mainly due to transcoding caused by the DTS and other audio formats (i.e formats that aren’t AAC, AC3, MP3 or EAC3 and therefore the XBOX can’t direct play them), I’ve created a windows power shell script to go through my entire library and convert all MKV videos to AC3 5.1 if they need it.

That USED to be the fix, however around late summer time 2019 even AC3 5.1 would buffer on 4k HDR videos after about 20 mins of play time.
@swanlee Sorry to hear that. Wish i could help but I don’t even have a 4k tv set yet.
Just out of interest, I’m assuming it’s direct playing?
Yep direct play both audio and video, buffer loop after 20 mins or so with 4k HDR video, issue has been going on over 2 years now.
Every blue moon it will get fixed, for about 5 months the fix was to convert the audio to AC3 5.1 but that stopped working last summer.
Plex devs and MS devs have acknowledged the issue and can re produce it, that was 9 months ago and neither party has fixed the problem.
