Workflow to delete mass video files and question on "Labels"

Hi Team,

as Newbee I would need advice for a workflow to scale down my number of personal media files. Comimg from Lightroom Classic I am used to easy keywording tagging & deleting workflows there. But with Plex I am still confused.:grinning_face:

So want to have the following results as easy as possible (fewest clicks and best on my Android TV via TV-Remote Control). What is your best practise workflow ?

1) Deletion

Say I have 1000 Videos and want to keep only the 100 best and delete (from disk) the remaining 900 :

I would quickly review each video maunually to decide deleting or keep it.

Here my point: How can I easily mark these videos to be deleted during review. And as last step filter them all together to prepare deletion and finally delete the 900 sorted out files in one click?

2) Keywording / Tags / Label

I want to give every of the remaining 100 videos a bunch of very individual keywords. Do I use the “Label” or “Tag” workflow (I have Plex Pass which supports “Label”). It seems now “Label” is the right approach instead of legacy via Tags ? Correct?

Is there any Master database of the “Labels” i can im/export as e.g. CSV?

Big screen clients require more effort, since typical remote controls have less and less buttons nowadays.

Still, there are 2 options:

  1. if you enable “Allow media deletion” in the server settings, you can delete videos from the context menu on their preplay screen
  2. you can assign a “star rating” to any item on its preplay screen (not while it’s playing). So you give deletion candidates half a star.
    You can later use the Plex web app and filter the libary by star rating and then multi-select all the half starred items and delete them at once.

There are “sharing labels”, Genre, and collections, or playlists. Each has their own pros and cons. As a beginner in plex, you should try all of them.
Overall, the tagging system in plex is not as extensive as you may find it in photography apps like Lightroom.
