Dear devs,
I paid for Plex Pass (lifetime). But I wanted to let you know, I’d even pay separately for a better Plexamp. Which for me means improved tag support (composers). Currently with its limited tag support it’s unusable for classical music.
Roon is much better here, but insanely expensive and for many people therefore not a real option.
Anyone else here who listens to classical music?
This has nothing to do with Plexamp.
Composer tag support has first to be implemented in Plex server, before any Plex client can make use of it.
Then I’d pay for better tag support for classical music in the server part.
On a similar note, I’d really like to see support added to Plex for the Producer tag, which is absolutely imperative for a genre such as rap/hip hop.
Plex uses Music Brainz for meta data… take it up with them. Better yet, become a contributor/curator
@Explorer_200 it’s true that we use MusicBrainz for some of our music metadata, however we don’t make use of all the available data in there at present, including (as mentioned by @wmb) the composer tag. Suggesting editing MusicBrainz is unhelpful in this situation.
There’s a very thorough feature request here for better support for (among other things) better classical music support, as mentioned by Otto above:
That’s right, of course. I also know about the feature request.
But with my post I’d love to go even further. I don’t just want to request that feature any longer, since i’ve been doing that forever.
I’d actually pay for a better music experience, especially regarding classical music.
Understood. We definitely want to make improvements to better support classical music, but I can’t share much more than that at the moment.
