Wrong album images (inexperienced user)

I have many rare songs by unknown artists of the 60s. Plex uploads me the images of other modern artists that do not center anything with them or random images. This annoys me a lot, what can I do to solve this problem?

For a long time, regardless of the thing, I left the settings on “Last.fm”, now I removed and set to “Personal media artist”, with “local Media Asset” at the top of the list of agents but the problem is not resolved.
So I hope for your help

Make sure to always maintain a folder structure of
Music > Artist > Album > Tracks
i.e. avoid single folders full of tracks from multiple artists

Check for hidden image files in your music folders, even in the folders higher up in the structure.
See: How do I remove an incorrect tv show poster

Hum… i’ve understand…
I realize that my archive does not have the structure preferred by Plex.
I have really single folders full of tracks from multiple artists.
Since there are no photographs, information for many of the artists in my archive, I’m not interested in having their images from the web, because they are not found so much.
But I do not want to have photos of others that do not center anything with them. I prefer to have an empty image,
I would like Plex to collect it only from the embedded file tags if there are any

Plex only knows pictures for Artists and Albums.
And herein lies the crux: if Plex doesn’t know in which album a certain track is, it is trying to find an album where this track appears on. Often this is going to be some sampler or Best Of album.

Plex is trying to read embedded cover pictures, but if it has decided that a few tracks from different artists, with different embedded cover art belong into one album - which cover art will it use for this album? (And therefore all the tracks on this album will then have the same picture assigned to them in Plex.)

Have you given my link a read?

In your link I’ve understand the part of “change the order of metadata agents under” but I’ve not understand where are the hidden .jpg files. In Plex Media Server folder I see only many “.bundle” files. (I’ve Mac)

I understand the issue doesn’t exist on Mac. Usually only on Windows.
But the folder you should be looking in are the actual media folders (where your music is stored), not Plex’s own data folder.

I’ve this hidden folder in System:

I think you misunderstood.
These are not the folders you should be looking in.

Listen. Your link talk about the root folder of TV Show … in my case it is music … Assuming it works the same way, this is how it is: on mac inside my root folder of the music there are no invisible images … I I think you should write a tutorial for Mac users. Do not you think?

Apparently, the issue you have is not related to the issue that I assumed you’re having.
So let’s move on.

Do the pictures you get look at least related to the artists? Or are they completely unrelated?
Have you checked your msuic files for embedded meta data?

Do you have perhaps own pictures for the artists and albums and all you need is to find a way to make them appear in Plex?

The photos are completely foreign. Plex finds them on the web, with what criterion I do not know. The metadata is okay. They are simple: the album title, the song title and the artist’s name in the right place.
The artists are rarest unknown groups of the sixtiess. I would just like to know how to avoid plex to go around downloading images, which do not interest me. I understand that it has been studied with great effort to download metadata online but you can also use it without?

Yes, you can. You can do either of these things:

  • set the default agent of your library to be ‘Personal Media Artists’. You do that by editing your library, go to the ‘Advanced’ tab and change the ‘Agent’ selector
  • Perform a ‘Fix Match’ procedure on the artist. During it, pick ‘Search Options’, then set the agent there to ‘Personal Media Artists’

Depending on how many of those ‘unmatchable’ artists you already have in your library, you might have to treat the existing artists one by one with ‘Fix Match’ or
(if your library consists solely of those kind of artists) simply delete the library and recreate it with the above mentioned agent setting.
