A friend of mine was trying to give me access to his Plex but it wasn’t working. While signed into mine he added his as an account somehow. Now whenever I open my player (any device) it gives me the option to launch his or mine. But either one I choose, it loads his content first. I then have to scroll all the way down to more and access my server instead.
On my server it shows both of us listed under “home users” and lists his as admin. Not sure what privelages that gives his over mine or if changing this changes anything for me. But I just want my account to be the one that appears when I select my name on launch.
He made you a member of his Plex Home.
If you want to leave this again, you go to https://app.plex.tv/desktop#!/settings/users-sharing
then hover your mouse over your user name. At the right end of the line you’ll see a red X. Click on it.
Thanks. Even though I’m signing in with my own credentials and not his, it still means I’m a member of his home? If I remove myself from his home, how do we make it so I still have access to his Plex when signed into mine? I’m pretty new to the platform sorry.
After leaving his home, you will still be his “Plex friend”. You can still access what he shared with you.
You’ll just be removed from the “Fast User Switcher”.
And you’ll have to buy the “mobile” Plex app yourself if you use it. Removal from the home will also revoke your ability to use his Plex pass to unlock the mobile app on your phone.
