Wrong Libraries added to Home Screen

Server Version#: Version 1.16.5.1554
Player Version#: Version 4.6.2

When users try to customize their own home screens using the libraries available to them, but the modules that show up are the wrong libraries.

For instance, I have a “Kids” account in my Plex Home, which has Kids Movies and Kids TV shared with them. I click the + sign in the “recommended” page to add the “recently added movies” to the home screen, but it adds the recently added movies from the “Parents” library (aka my main account.)

Recently added Movies will use all movie libraries from that server that the user has access to. You cannot add recently added from only 1 specific library.

If the Kids account, shouldn’t have access to the adult library, then that is a problem. If so, please provide a screenshot from the kids account.

sounds like he is using separate libraries specifically for kids type media, and not using the home user restrictions @ Plex Web > settings > users & sharing > kids user > restrictions > allow ratings/lables.

@TeknoJunky – correct. Only sharing Kids Specific libraries.

You will need to allow specific ratings and/or specific labeled content to the kids user, since the recently added is a global hub, not library specific hub.

Or you can remove it from the user home screen (but nothing to prevent being re-added).

In other words, if you set user: kids = restrictions movie/tv only G,PG

then only G/PG content should show up in recently added.

My account on top and Kids below. Both are part of the same “Home” using user switching, but each account was created on its own and invited in. The Kids account is limited to 3 libraries – Kids Movies, Kids TV and Soundtracks.

That does look wrong. Did this happen after switching users? Does it happen if you start with the kid account after opening the web browser?

Happens regardless of what user I open to. Its like the “recently added” section just applies on the server level and not the library level.

But not all PG movies are “kids” movies. I wouldn’t let a 5 year old watch Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure or Conan the Destroyer, for example, which is why I wouldn’t have them in my “kids” library, even though they’re rated PG.

I understand what you’re saying completely, though.

I guess its time for me to make the feature request that the home screen be limited to the content in the libraries that user has available to them. cc: @ChuckPA

Just looking at my library, here’s a few titles that show why the PG rating doesn’t really work for “Kids” movies:
Conan the Destroyer, any of the James Bond films, Cry Freedom, Dead Poets Society, Woody Allen movies, Out of Africa, Kramer vs Kramer, Rear Window, Streetcar Named Desire, All the President’s Men, Murder on the Orient Express, Fletch, Hidden Figures, Tootsie, Star Wars.

Thank you, all, for your help here. Much appreciated.

Yes. Recently added = Server-wide GLOBAL hub. All libraries.

So, not to throw a wrench in the works, but I just updated to Version 1.16.6.1592 and now the Home screen is how I’d expected. Only pulling from the libraries available to the user.

interesting. unless it was magically fixed back when that version was released, I would keep an eye on it still.

I suspect some kind of cache issue with either the server or client.
