Deleted films are not being deleted from my Library

This has only just started doing this (last couple of days). Usualy when I delete a film from my server and then do a scan files on that folder in Plex the film is removed from my library. At the moment if I remove a film from my Hard Disc and do a scan files the film still shows up. Clearly if I try to select the film it comes up with a file not found message. I have tried a couple of different films and it is the same. Any suggestion gratefully received.

After the scan, do an empty trash

Do you mean to empty the recycle bin in windows,? Or is there an empty trash option within Plex? I have emptied the recycle bin but the files are still showing in the library.

I didnt realise that was there - thank you. However I just did that and the files are still showing in the library.

I thought it might be a browser thing (I usualy use Chrome) but it does the same in Edge. I have also tried it with my VPN on and my VPN off. Still the same.

It is also on my phone and tablet as well. Curious!

For a media that’s deleted, does PMS shows it as unavailable, when selecting info on it?

Edit your library
go to the “Add Folders” tab
verify that all folder paths in there are

  • still existent
  • accessible to the Plex server
  • not completely empty

It did show as unavailable - I then clicked on the 3 dots and from there clicked on media info then delete files from file system. And that has cleared it.

Any idea why this has started happening? I never used to have to do this?

Thanks for the solution BTW!
