Player Version#: roku app latest version and latest preview version both experience the same issue
I have a mp4 movie that is encoded in x265 that when i play it from Plex web app on my PC is fine, via plex iphone app is fine, BUT playing from roku app fast moving scenes i can see skipping video … the same mp4 movie in x264 format plays perfectly fine on Roku. I was able to reproduce with another as well. This seems to have happened at least to me when i updated a few days ago to 1.21.3.4021 media server version. both file encoding details.txt (6.5 KB) Plex Media Server Logs_2021-02-15_20-41-16.zip (5.1 MB) roku app logs.txt (71.6 KB)
I have attached plex media server logs, plex roku app log, and encoding info for both the x265 and x264 versions of the mp4 for comparison.
i played the problem x265 file via roku app then immediately saved logs from plex server and roku app
As for the HEVC file - RARBG files in that time period are toast. <----In case that is one.
If you have the original - remux it with MKVToolNix V45 or better.
(that writes the missing ctts atom - and fixes the file)
If you don’t have the original - re-acquire it - then fix it.
Problem identified and cure discovered here:
IF that isn’t one of the aforementioned files - apologies - and good luck on the AVC file. The problem files are all HEVC from that source.
