I'm using Plex for 2 months now and I'm pretty much pleased with its functionality. But when i try to watch media on my tv, I run into problems.
I'm hosting the server on a qnap NAS and use the most recent software.
Since my tv (Philips) does not have any apps or so, I'm trying to enjoy Plex using the xbox 360 app. I singend in and all works pretty well.
UNTIL I click to play some viedeo, it even asks, if I wish to resume or restart (if I started that movie already on another device). Then it takes a moment and it says:
Server not available
There wa an error communicating with your Plex Media Server. Make sure it's turned on and accessible and try again.
Well, it is turned on and accessible. I couldn't browse through my media otherwise, would I?
So everything works, except for playing the media.
My files are
mp4 h.264
AAC 2.0 or AAC DS or AAC 5.1
Resolution is never beyond 720p
Why can't I play the media, I'm really near to freak out.
Do you get an error message on the screen? It would be helpful to have the [server log](https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201643703) from when you try to play a file.
Same thing happened to me. I uninstalled it and downgraded to 0.9.12.2 which is available through the “previous downloads” option on the download page. Works fine.
I don’t know what the heck they did to stuff it up, but I won’t be upgrading for a while. Glad to know the previous version is easily available.
Logging is on on my plex, but unfortunately I can't find the logging files. In fact I do not know, where to find the Plex installation at all on my server :(
Normally I'm not so dumb with Computers, but I got some difficulties here.
