After using the app without problems for about 1 month, this evening when launching the xbox 360 Plex app, an error results on screen. The problem has persisted for a few hours.

What I’ve done to troubleshoot:

  1. confirmed other xbox live dependent services like Netflix are working
  2. checked logs on Plex Media Server (no Xbox related entries are present that I could tell)
  3. rebooted Plex Media Server and Xbox
  4. from Xbox storage deleted two small cache files for the Plex app
  5. Plex is not listed in the app list at Xbox.com/status
  6. searched the forums, haven’t found any entries matching this problem

I also have the same problem. Tried deleting and reinstalling the Xbox 360 app several times. Also deleted the xbox 360 device in an attempt to force it to re-register but I still get the same message as list above from @soulshine25

Ditto, glad to read I'm not the only one encountering this issue. Now, I might be forced to play a game on my 360  :blink:

Used it this morning, but now I am currently getting this error also.

I was using the xbox360 for it fine last night but today when I logged on this afternoon it wouldn't work. Working fine on the Xbox One.

I can confirm getting the same error on plex currently. I was using it this morning it was working fine. Between x box live going down disconnecting for me all the time I think I need a new media player:(

I usually use PS3 Media server when I have no other choice. Even though it was made for the PS3, it works on the Xbox 360 flawlessly. You have to use the Native Xbox player when using it though.

Thank you for waiting,  just got the reply here.  Apparently they are monitoring an issue with this app and IGN.  But will soon roll out a patch in the coming hour and and should improve the stability of the 2 apps mentioned.  Don't want to give a definite timeframe as to avoid disappointing your if we don't deliver on that promise.  I do apologize that this is happening however but rest assured that it's being taken care of right now.  

Just wait.. ;)

While the Xbox status page does (incorrectly) list Plex as "up and running", there *are* currently problems with Xbox Live service that are causing the errors with the Plex app. We see the same error as everyone else. We're working with Microsoft to get things resolved as quickly as possible.

yeah i spoke with xbox this morning as i had the same issue now 12 hours later its still an issue seems like its global live issue as youtube is not quite working right on live... hopefully yall can fix this soon i love plex hahaha and now that i use Plex Home i cant use my lg tv because there isnt an app for the 2012 2013 tvs for login.

Have you tried power cycling it? Uninstalling and reinstalling the application? Perhaps touching your right hand to your left knee while calling fourth the Kraken? 

Glad to know its a known issue - xbox support sure wasn't helpful.

I have the same issue. Appeared after opening Plex last night an being asked install an update (4mb). Did that and then got the servcie announcement. Went through XBox support (who were very pateint and helpful to be honest) and nothing fixes the issue so it looks like an app update or other Live service issue which will resolve whenever they fix it.

Thanks for the update Chris. Really love my Plex setup and missing it today as I'm at home sick. Maybe I'll enable DLNA and just use the native Xbox system video player until this is resolved.

I'd really like to look at Microsoft's SLA, and see what they define as an "up" service. There must some very interesting language, and semantics in there... <_<

Im having the same issue. After months of great service. Why should it matter if XBL is up or down? Why won’t this app work locally. PLEX get your stuff together. An internet connection should NOT be necessary for me to watch movies on my own damn network. Both of my xbox one’s and my xbox 360 all suffer from this DESIGN FLAW. Should i even bother downloading PLEX on my ps4?
