My wife and myself have given this quite a few tries and have yet to get the Xbox to launch Plex when we say “Xbox goto Plex”.
Each time the Xbox interprets our voices as saying “goto my apps”…
I've noticed that 'plex' really has to be well enunciated. My first few tries it kept trying to 'watch fox'. It seems to be having hard time with the plex keyword.
I don’t have a speech impediment nor does my wife, and we have yet to have it work.
Other than that, voice navigation is a dream and I love how our libraries are voice enabled. I hope all media gets voice tags one day.
Had the same issue, done the same as David S and now I can get it every time even in my Glaswegian accent!

Glad to see a fellow Scot enjoying the app :) Although, my accent is pretty soft (living in Edinburgh too long).

I restarted my Xbox One (fully powered down) and then booted it back up and it works flawlessly now. I just don’t think the database registered the app yet.
Hope this helps.

Had the same issue and did the same thing... worked like a charm.

Huh interesting :) I'll mention to Microsoft to see if this is a known issue...

I also had to reboot my Xbox for it to recognize the "go to Plex" command. Ian, how easy will Plex be able to update Xbox app, will it be something like how Apple allows or the way Google allows apps to be updated.
this is an interesting thread: i've been having serious problems with my kinect, and i believe i've tracked it down to the plex app.
my kinect has been turning on /off, showing a disconnect icon, and resting itself.
from other general discussions online on kinect issues it looked like it was potentially a hardware issue.
of course this was driving me nuts, but I was able to narrow the issue down to only occurred after using the plex app.
The general resolution for these type of Kinect issues has been to do a proper reset of the xbox (hold the power button for >5seconds), unplug it (basically until the power adapter light goes off), and then start it again.Quitting Plex doesn't help either.
If I do that, and don't use Plex my kinect works flawlessly again(i.e. it hasn't occurred again for me to believe its any other app/game)
my instinct (coming from a software development background) is that plex is registering or not registering itself correctly and/or not cleaning up after itself (however its done with the XDK) etc. so i think there's a bug in the app.
I haven't tried it with the latest release of the plex app yet btw.
update:
i just tried it, and it happened straight away.
1. started plex
2. pressed the xbox-button to get back to the main screen.. as soon as i did this:
a. the kinect power indicator went off.
b. the kinect disconnected icon appeared.
c. the light came on after a short while, but soon as i switch to my pins (i.e. pressed left), the two things happened again
3. the kinect became unstable randomly.

Anything that has led you to believe it is related to Plex, or any other app, is wrong. If you have issues with kinect, it's a hardware issue. What you're considering as causation and the way apps interact with the hardware, just isn't possible.
To be clear, this thread was about the issue when the Plex app was very first released and the problem with the XBO not understanding the 'Plex' voice command. It was immediately solved with a reboot of the hardware as the database simply hadn't been updated yet to include the new app.
i'm not going to argue with your points, however what lead me to this thread was that my voice commands stopped working in plex too, and then noticing strange behaviour subsequently with the kinect, which could only be resolved with a hardware reset, its taken me about 3 weeks to identify it to being TRIGGERED by Plex, and so i've been avoiding using plex for the last week, and my kinect has been stable during this period with no other apps or games seeming to trigger it.
look, whether this is the wrong thread or not to post this doesn't dismiss a potential problem:
in other discussions online (reddit, xbox forums etc. ) some kinects do fail.. but they fail permanently and are replaced under warranty-- all other cases it seems to be a 'software issue' that a full reset resolves but no-one can quite identify the cause.
the reason for associating this issue here was i was looking for terms such as "kinect", "voice commands", "reset".
since i just tested it with the latest plex app: I IMMEDIATELY encountered the problem (i.e. i can replicate it on demand)-- the plex code is doing SOMETHING to trigger my *potentially faulty* kinect into becoming unstable.
and if you want to try to replicate it, my region/local is Australia/ English (australian)
i don't mind moving this into another thread if possible.
