Xbox One Client Audio Problem (Freezing on song change)

As titled, I love the new audio features; however, they aren’t functioning correctly for me. While using both regular Music and Premium music libraries the first couple of songs will work okay, and then either after playing through a list for a bit or when manually picking a new song it will immediately freeze the app when the next song was supposed to start. I can go back to the main dash and close the program or it will eventually close itself.

I am able to use all my music properly on my Win 8.1 PC as well as the Xbox network media player. TV and movies have never caused me any problems either.

I’ve tried the following already:
Reinstalled & ensured updated PMS
Deleted all libraries and AppData folders and rebuilt them
Reinstalled Xbox One app
Full Xbox brick power down

Current PMS Version 0.9.12.4
Current Xbox One Version (Dashboard Preview Program) 6.2.13300.0 (xb_rel 1508.150712-2200) fre
Xbox One Plex App Version 1.1.7.0

I just figured out how to set logging so I’ve done that and will try to catch it occurring.

Am I the only one?

We’ve seen this occasionally in testing, I’m afraid. Tracking the issue and trying to fix it :frowning:

Same issue here although it’s fairly rare and seems to happen when moving to the next song in a playlist on shuffle.

Behaviour hasn’t changed and I’ve since had the late July Xbox One system update, as well as switched to Windows 10 and updated Plex Server. Must be something in the app itself.

In the meantime I’ve also tried:

  • Reset the Xbox to factory defaults
  • Replaced Xbox media remote batteries (believe it or not some functions like shutting the Xbox down stop working when the battery is low)
  • Moved the Plex app from external USB3.0 storage to internal

It consistently happens if I let the songs try and overlap whether through a playlist or by manually selecting a new song while the old one is playing. I can’t seem to play more than 4-5 songs this way before it locks up. One time I managed to back/cancel out of the lock but the Plex menus were all messed up and I couldn’t start playing anything new.

The only way I got around it for now is to stop the current song before switching to the new one, but I can only do that if I’m actually sitting at the console while listening.

Been updating my music metadata and album covers while I wait! Thanks!

Restarted PMS (Version 0.9.12.8)
Logged onto Xbox
Ran Plex App
Set logging
Played “Eagles of Death Metal\2008 - Heart On\02 - Wannabe in L.A…mp3” for about a minute
Browsed and tried to play “Ocean Drive” by Miami Nights 1984
Locked up, can’t do any sort of input but it didn’t crash to dashboard
Press guide button, return to dash and manually exit app

Thanks for the log! We think we’ve actually tracked down the cause of this issue and are currently looking into a solution.

Awesome, can’t wait! It looks so nice but can’t really use it until that part is fixed.

Only thing I’d love to see is the album year displayed in non-playlist view. :slight_smile:

Still happens :frowning: (Yes I know that that version likely had already been submitted before you identified the issue.) Just want to listen to more than one song, haha.
