Xbox One keeps freezing on playback - for files that previously worked

Hi All

 

Plex on my my Xbox One has been working perfectly for a few months.  I was watching a TV series, moved to the next episode and the playback started to stutter and the audio is out of sync.  If I go back to previous episodes it now won't play them back.  I have tried updating, rebooting everything including the Plex server but now everything I play on the Xbox One stutter.  The files play fine using Plex on other devices.

 

Any suggestions?

Kind of an odd issue.

I think it would be helpful if you would provide server logs for when this is happening.

Also the Plex update is around the corner. Maybe the issue goes away when this hits.

Are you using wifi or Ethernet? I had the very same issue with mine. Couple of weeks ago I noticed a few episodes of TV shows being marginally out of sync. It was so minimal I just put up with it. I encode everything to m4v so assumed I had a few dodgy encodes. Few days later episodes started to pause every 30-60 seconds. Again at first I assumed a dodgy encode as it didn’t happen with everything. Another few days passed and I was unable to watch anything at all. It would just freeze every few seconds. I had my server in a spare bedroom connected via wifi so I moved it to my front room and connected via Ethernet to see if the wifi was at fault as movies I knew had worked in the past now didn’t. Since doing this everything’s working fine again.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Plex and it seems to have fixed the issue.

Btw - for future reference, how do I get the logs?

Had the same thing tonight with the videos freezing but not crashing the xbox, played the same file through the xbox media player and it was fine. Connection to PC and xbox are wired.

Plex is up to date on both and I am in the preview program which is also up to date. I did stop and start the movie a few times to see if it would clear up but each time had the same issue
