I installed plex app on both my xbox one and desktop computer 2 months ago; this allowed me to watch video files saved on my computer on my TV (via my xbox one plex app). This was working fine until a couple of days ago. Suddenly the plex app on my xbox one would not connect to my server; it told me I have an “insecure connection” with my server.
To attempt to fix this problem I went on my plex setting on my computer:
I went to my plex Server-Network settings and changed Secure Connections “Preferred” to Secure Connections “Disabled” ; I’m pretty sure this means the app should allow insecure ‘unencryped’ servers to connect. (I switched it to the third option “required” just in case and it still wouldn’t work) I then went to Web-General setting and changed “Allow Fallback to Insecure Connections” from the default settings to “Allow Fallback to Insecure connections -Always”. This should in theory obviously allow the xbox to connect to the server regardless if the connection is insecure/secure.
The plex app just stalls when I try load it on my xbox one and my server appears “offline”. This is so frustrating. If I don’t fix this soon I might try reinstall plex app on my computer and xbox one.

When you make a change to secure connections setting on th server, try to also sign out and sign in after each change - within settings / server / general screen
And after each change, sign the client app out and in / reconnect it to the okex server via pin / sign in - sorry I do not have the client app so do not know the exact mechanism

Did you change the security setting at all in the Xbox App? Changing the web-general setting is only for the Plex Web player and will not affect your Xbox One app at all.
The Xbox One app should automatically be falling back from secure mode by default, but it wouldn’t hurt to double check. Inside the app hit the hamburger button on the remote (looks like 3 lines), then goto settings on the popup. When you get to the options goto the security tab and you should be able to change it from there.
The other thing to verify is that you can access your server from plex.tv/web. The Xbox One does require remote access be setup correctly on the server because it is not allowed to browse the local network to look for the server. To get around this the app connects to the plex.tv servers to pull your server information after the server has connected.

I checked the plex app Security setting on my xbox and it correctly had the “Allow Fallback to Insecure Connections” set to “Always”.
However I did check my server from plex.tv/web and I could NOT access it on my desktop computer. It said the same excuse as my xbox one: “Insecure connection”. When it then asked me if I would like to connect to an insecure connection anyway, I said yes. Then it said “The Selected Server is Currently Unreachable”.
Not sure how to proceed from here…
And to Sicksantaclaws yes I made sure to sign into my account, and to sa2000, I signed out and then into my account after changing the setting and the setting kept my saved changes…so I don’t think the problem is there.

An UPDATE for anyone who is suffering from the same problem I had
I FIXED THE PROBLEM
I
-Disabled the VPN on my computer
-This enabled me to access plex.tv/web (no “insecure connection” error appears)
-This enabled the remote access in the settings (no longer red, but green)
-I could then watch plex stuff on my xbox as well
I guess end of day I now just make sure both my Plex Media Server and Plex.tv/web are both SIGNED INTO when I attempt to access plex app on my XBOX ONE.
