I am wondering if there is a way to stream a video to an Xbox One S with subtitles without forcing the server to transcode the video. DVD’s are fine streaming but when I try to play a blu-ray with subtitles my server is unable to handle the load, even if I compress the video file down which manages to play the video, whenever I fast foward or rewind the video just sticks on buffering and fails to start again in a timely manner. Is there a way around this? I would rather not have to compress my videos down and loosing the quality.

What type of file are the BR? When converting from Disc to digital, you can use VLC to hard code subs which may help.
What version of Plex…latest? Is this local streaming? Wifi or wired?
I am using MakeMKV at the moment, so the file comes out as an .mkv. Using the latest version on both the server and the client, both of which are wired into my network.
I don’t really want to hardcode subtitles because I would like to be able to turn them on and off - some people like them on while others don’t.
