As far as I know, this isn’t something that would be able to be implemented on the App side of things it would all need to be implemented on the server side of things. And would require exceptions/help from Microsoft.
The Plex Media Server would need to be able to turn an Xbox On, Switch out of a current App, and Open an App. I could be wrong (It has happened before, and fairly recently) but with the App not even being allowed to look for a server on the local network, switch audio output, or switch the display mode I don’t know the chances of Microsoft allowing something not on the platform to perform these functions.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I would love to be able to see this as it would make the automation awesome, I just have doubts about it happening in the current Xbox ecosystem.
Hate to be that guy but Netflix launches the app on the Xbox when the cast button is pressed. It does however get stuck on the pick a user screen, which is just dumb. I guess companion apps with Xbox are just limited in their functionality. Wish it would work more like a chromecast., but that’s life.
I can no longer log into plex on the Xbox one, but any other device still can connect locally and remotely. plex is being hosted on a FreeNAS server. any ideas??
When you have more then one XBOX one in the house you always have to enter that annoying PIN or a user change from the camera u have to enter it. Not good when the kids always asking for the PIN.

@moussa.uk @“Dom C” Great update, been waiting for filters and sorting since the app was released on Xbox One!
One small annoyance though - when selecting the release date sort, it always defaults to oldest first. You then have to click the dropdown again to change it round. Really wish it defaulted to newest first, as I am nearly always using it to show the latest movies in a particular genre.

Don’t hate being that guy, that’s good information because it gives the developers a basis to look at or apply for an exception if needed. Even with just that as a start, it would still be a bit better than it is now. Progress is progress after all.
@viggen7 that sounds like you have two XB1 accounts using the same Plex account, is that correct?
If so, that’s not yet supported. I’d recommend you either use the same XB1 account across the consoles, or create another plex.tv account (for free), add them to your Plex Home and sign in with that one on the second account. This also gives you parental controls in PMS, which is useful

Does the theme music not just loop then? It’s restarting when you nav back to the show? i’ll raise an issue internally if it’s overzealous
We have some channel fixes in the upcoming 1.4 that’s already been submitted, so hopefully that helps with those.
Wondering if there any plans for OneGuide Integration? I would love to favorite my Plex movie channel on the OneGuide tab as well as see the the last three movies I’ve added in the Recently used Apps/games tile on the Home Dashboard.
Plex companion still does not work for me. Keep getting error “There was a problem connecting to this player.” All latest updates installed on DiskStation, PMS, and XB1.
Very much active! We know it’s been too long since the last update, but we’re working hard on getting the next release ready. There has been a lot of work on the app behind the scenes, which has taken a fair bit of time but it was worth it as it will allow us to add new features much quicker in the future.
