I have noticed transcoding of video (h264) on XB1 from my Sinology DiskStation 1513+ server but direct play from my Windows 10 server. Both reference the same files. Both severs are running PMS 0.9.14.2, and both operating systems are fully updated. Frustrating because the NAS is not powerful enough to transcode. Issue did not exist for me before the XB1 Client update. Also, the DiskStation direct plays to my Roku 3 just fine.
What do your server logs show when you attempt to play the file through the xbox one? The log should tell you exactly why the server things it needs to transcode for the xbox one with the most common factor usually being subtitles are enabled.
Had the spinning wheel issue on login but exited the app and quit it, then it started fine.
Channels working well so far It would be great in the list view within a channel if it could size the artwork correctly so that it fits within the space (right now they all look like wide 16:9 thumbnails). I can add screenshots of this tomorrow if itās confusing!

Reporting back in! I do have problems with some channels, I seem to have narrowed it down to channels that stream live video.
For example in the Ustream channel none of the live streams are working for me but theyāre fine on Plex/web. I have the same problem in the NASA channel if I try to view any of the live streams.
I get the error āServer not availableā. Anybody else have the same issues?
Apple Movie Trailers seems fine, so I think itās just live streaming channels.

Iām also having an issue with live stream channels. NASA & USTVNow both come up as āserver not available.ā
Iām having the spinning wheel issue also after xb1 client update.
Tried all above and no help (cold boot xb1, restart PMS, reboot pc, updated PMS, rebooted again).
Then tried adding new user on xb1, but Plex client then says PMS is offline. Even though new registration shows up on plex.tv.
Hey Dom, is there anyway to fix the theme music? When you click on a show it plays the theme music, but Everytime I click a season it plays the theme music and then when I go back to all seasons it plays it again⦠It gets annoying when you are browsing :). Thanks so much

Does the theme music not just loop then? Itās restarting when you nav back to the show? iāll raise an issue internally if itās overzealous
We have some channel fixes in the upcoming 1.4 thatās already been submitted, so hopefully that helps with those.
Yes, when you click on a tv show it plays the theme music. When you click on a āseasonā to go into āepisodeā it starts the theme again. Then when you go back to the āseasonsā it starts the theme again.
It has been doing this for quite a long time. (Since the update before this one).
Normally once you click on the series it would play it once and thatās it. (Unless you exit the series and then go back to it. Not navigate inside the series)
Iāve been good with the splash screen. Works perfect for me. Maybe because Iām using it locally and using Ethernet connected not wifi?
Regarding the filtering option which made it into this release I was expecting a āview by folderā option however unfortunately thatās not currently available. Can you please raise this internally to ensure inclusion in the next update. Many thanks as always.
So plex companion apps are kinda useless when it canāt launch the app on the Xbox with it. Having to manually open the app with a controller sort of defeats the purpose of the ācastā functionality.

Itās going to depend on your setup. For me a quick āXbox Goto Plexā works quite well to before using a companion app to search for what I want to watch.
But then again you also have to think if your Xbox is connected to a remote server would you want anyone on that server to be able to open the plex app on your Xbox whenever they wanted?
Never really thought about this but just assumed⦠Is casting to other devices not tied to oneās account or to devices on their local subnet? If not thatās a major security issue.

What youāre saying was kind of my point. (You are correct that it is limited to the local network, that was my bad) But casting to a device should not be allowed if the app is not already open and logged in because until that app is opened the app still canāt verify what account it is actually tied to or what or who has permission to cast to it.
Good on the security thing. Thought that was the case!
Iām not so sure I would agree with you on having to have the app open to use casting. On one of my living room TVs I have an XBox One, Ruku 3 and ChromeCast attached. Iāll often āflingā YouTube, Emby or other videos to the Chromecast, Roku or XBox from my cell, computer or tablet to this TV and the TV will automatically change sources to the HDMI input where the Chromecast is located and start playing. Same with flinging to the XBox.
Granted this isnāt from inside Plex but ācasting/flingingā in general. Iāve got to say just having it start to play without having to grab a remote or two to change inputs, start an app is powerful stuff and the way I envision/want my āhome automationā to work. If it can directly support Plex then all the better.
As far as I know, this isnāt something that would be able to be implemented on the App side of things it would all need to be implemented on the server side of things. And would require exceptions/help from Microsoft.
The Plex Media Server would need to be able to turn an Xbox On, Switch out of a current App, and Open an App. I could be wrong (It has happened before, and fairly recently) but with the App not even being allowed to look for a server on the local network, switch audio output, or switch the display mode I donāt know the chances of Microsoft allowing something not on the platform to perform these functions.
Now, donāt get me wrong. I would love to be able to see this as it would make the automation awesome, I just have doubts about it happening in the current Xbox ecosystem.
