Xbox One X with latest updates - transcodes, HEVC streaming

Hi,

Can anybody confirm following:

  1. 4K HEVC in MKV is not direct streamed or direct played randomly.
  2. Poor buffering on Xbox One X. PC buffers more aggressively and mitigates buffering issues completely. Setup: NAS (PC with i7 and 16GB RAM all on quality SSD) - Router - Switch - Xbox/PC. Xbox has priority.
Network traffic showed in Network monitor on PC is 141Mbps

So far I can tell that occasionally Xbox One X 4K direct streaming works, but it needs polishing. Buffering issues are too frequent

4K HEVC in MKV with 2 audio tracks can ignore selection of audio track and during buffering may switch from DirectPlay to Converting on the fly also changing protocol from HTTP to DASH.

Resolution: leave only one audio track.

Ive been having the same issue… I solved it by remux’ing the file to mp4. - I loose subs, but I dont use them anyway, ang I cant stor any HD audio in the mp4 container. So I rip them from the mkv and store them seperatly I might need them later. An added bonus is, that I can transcode HD audio to EAC3 format, which supports 24bit and up to ~6000k bitrate - way better then AC3.

BTW (I’ve also tried having only one AC3 track in the mkv, but that didnt seem to work consistently for me)

Thanks Michael for confirmation. I have posted bug in beta forum. Hopefully Plex team will react.
