xbox one

Handshake87 is correct, any binary that runs on Xbox or PS requires it to be signed.  In order for the binary to be signed, it undergoes rigorous testing via at MS/Sony and thus costs a hefty fee (5 digits) EVERY TIME.  Additionally, this is a weeks long process, and if you didn't pay the rush price, be prepared to wait until they finish those who did.

Considering how many updates Plex gets, this in no way, shape or form would be worthwhile financially.

I can confirm this as well, it's just not financially feasible for Plex to make an xbox client, your best bet will be dnla, however on a good note, with the upgraded horsepower in the xbox one you should have no problems streaming 1080p on it now.

Its got a bluray player so its gonna have cinavia. Youre not going to be able to play bluray rips on it anyways.

Is this not all changing with the Xbox One http://majornelson.com/2013/07/24/self-publishing-is-coming-to-xbox-one/

Yea,  looks like it will be easier to develop for than expected.  It will still have Cinavia though.

Seems RockStar is right... And I thought I'd be buying the Xbox One because it wouldn't have Cinavia (PS3 burned me)  :(

I know… Developing for a platform that wont play bluray rips properly seems like a waste of time imo.

Any updates on the possibilities of a plex client for XB1... I remember an article dell leaked saying that xbox one's would be able to use all windows 8 apps. So hopefully we see this soon! be great to hear any updates from the developers

i'd like the option....

DLNA will be the best option for Xbox One at this point..

The xbox one doesn't support DLNA in full though. It only supports Microsofts Play To DLNA, I've never used Play To before, Is Plex compatible?

I have had luck using the Skifta app (available for iOS and Android). It found my Plex Media Server, found my Xbox One, and allowed me to stream some of my content to it. In my limited testing I couldn't get full length movies to work, or the iTunes music channel. TV shows worked, as did native Plex music. It might just be the formats I have or limitations of my wireless connections.

Any comments from the developers now the Xbox One has been released?

no. Plex does not ever comment on possible future releases period. Asking nicely, angrily, or more than once will not change this.

I'd definitely love to see an app for the xbox one.

we need this!, xbox one does not have a media center feature.

it would be orgasmic cool to have plex on there, everything at one place, games, tv, music, movies, tvshows... aaaah the joy!

pretty please!

Don't want to hi-jack the thread but show my opinion. I'll pass on next-gen consoles. I'll just get a pair of beagleboards/Pi and retrogame all the masterpieces that I've miss. Anyway i doubt new consoles would have any chances to get plex on them, and if that happen , to have DTS-MA or Dolby True HD, so i'll go the budget-saving track for myself.

Anyway PC >>> Console. Wait for Kaveri and you are done, no Console needed, just  Steam, Steam OS and Plex HT for Linux that works like a charm.

All I can say is that a Plex Client on the X1 would be a client to end all clients.

I’ve set up my cable box through my X1 and added my netflix acct as well as all the other app channels and it is amazing how seamless it all is!

Being able to watch the local news and snap to Plex to watch a movie then snap to espn to watch a game all with out lifting a finger would be amazing.

I would pay a pretty penny for this app. The X1 definitely has the right goals to take over the living room and Plex would be smart to ride its coat tails.

I cannot disagree more with you... Just buy a Pi, and you get retrogaming + 1080p video decoding (Rasplex , Plexbmc) , inexpensive, reliable, community backed (and baked) ...

Jvillaova, if you haven’t noticed, this isn’t a bashing thread. Get over the fact that people don’t like the same things you do.
