Don't want to hi-jack the thread but show my opinion. I'll pass on next-gen consoles. I'll just get a pair of beagleboards/Pi and retrogame all the masterpieces that I've miss. Anyway i doubt new consoles would have any chances to get plex on them, and if that happen , to have DTS-MA or Dolby True HD, so i'll go the budget-saving track for myself.
Anyway PC >>> Console. Wait for Kaveri and you are done, no Console needed, just Steam, Steam OS and Plex HT for Linux that works like a charm.
I cannot disagree more with you... Just buy a Pi, and you get retrogaming + 1080p video decoding (Rasplex , Plexbmc) , inexpensive, reliable, community backed (and baked) ...
No need to "Kayne West" this thread. We are just voicing what we want, and we don't want to ditch our consoles.

Or, since some of us already have a modern gaming console with many of the Windows libraries that Plex home theatre uses, we could just hold out for an Xbox One app instead of running a whole other device.
+1 on Xbox One support. Plex on Xbox One would be the thing I'd put on the top of my features/clients wishlist.
... and we're back to less than useful thread spamming again.
Yes, you all want Xbox One clients, but only a couple of you seem to have taken on board how difficult this will be to achieve. Yes, if the device is as compatible with Windows as you claim, the software is all but written, but getting from there to an actual Xbox release isn't as easy as snapping your fingers.
Without MS verification, the app won't run. Without a sizable chunk of cash being handed over, MS won't verify the app. Even if the Plex team DID hand them the cash, it's less than likely that MS would approve the app without forcing the Plex team to implement some pretty draconian DRM features to "protect the immaterial rights of Microsofts media partners".
I'd suggest sitting down and shutting up. The team knows we want the app for any device it could possibly run on, and that in the coming months the user base of Xbox One will grow rapidly. They're not going to abandon plans of making an app just to piss you off. Any decision they make will be made from rational criteria.
So,,, just wait for an announcement. If the app is coming, they'll let you know.
+1 for me too. I actually tried multiple Plex clients such as LG TV App (MediaLink) or RasPlex but none of them provide very good experience as they are either missing feature or the GUI is very slow.
The only one which provide very good experience is a real PC with Plex Home Theater installed. If you decide to go with the Xbox One App, you should make sure it will bring a good user's experience. Tonight I will try IE on the Xbox One to see if it works.
That would allow content to be flinged to the Xbox One, PS4, and any other DLNA client from the Android / iOS apps. Only needs implementing once, rather than once per target device.
I wonder if Plex wrote a minimal app for Xbox/XboxONE that worked kind of like Chromecast does if that’d be any easier to get launched. I can do without a “full” Plex app if I could just cast (for lack of a better term) to my xbox. The xbox youtube app has a “pair with my connected device” function where you pair it with the YouTube app on your phone and then it works essentially identically to Chromecast. There are a HUGE amount of people with Xboxes, it just may be worth it to put out a small(er) effort product to attract those users to Plex in general.
Ok. Are there any ios apps that have this feature that I could give it a try with? Only thing similar I’ve toyed with in the past is ps3 media server and twonky but I don’t remember being able to remotely start my xbox playing a video. I’ll have to look back into that. As long as I can browse my collection and hit play on my phone, then watch on my TV while using the phone as a remote I’m happy.
